Google testing Android/Chrome OS hybrid system 'Andromeda'

According to foreign media reports, Google (Weibo) is quite high-profile for the press conference on the 4th of next month. In addition to the new Pixel phone that is being promoted on the streets, Google has also kept a trick up its sleeve. It is rumored that they will officially launch a hybrid new system that combines Android and Chrome OS at the press conference. The system is code-named "Andromeda".

It is reported that sharp-eyed developers have found clues about the system from the source code of the Android 7.0 open source project ASOP, and the Nexus 9 tablet manufactured by HTC is currently responsible for testing the system.

The most obvious clue is a file called "SurfaceCompositionTest.java" in the open source project, which is responsible for testing the graphics performance of the device. Through analysis, the developers found that the Andromeda system needs to run on devices with a running score of 8.0 or above, while the threshold for the Android system is only 4.0. The developers then tested the Nexus 9 and found that the running score of the machine could reach 8.8, which was barely able to run the new system smoothly. But remember, the Nexus 9 is already a veteran from two years ago.

Although the Andromeda system has not yet been officially released, its high performance requirements make it more suitable for products such as laptops, two-in-one devices and tablets. Perhaps Google developed it to enhance the compatibility of its own "big" products with Android applications.
