Maybe when you read this article, maybe your phone is still equipped with Android 9, or Android 8, but interestingly, in recent days Google developers have introduced us to several key features of Android 11 at the 2019 Android Developer Summit, and here we will interpret them. But before we start, it must be clarified that Android 11 is still in the preliminary development stage, so the details of some information are not so specific, but Google clearly told us that these will be the good news we will see on the next version of Android. 1- Privacy and security issues Privacy and security are two topics that sound easy to repeat, but, in the last month, we've learned about a number of apps that can sneak onto Android and contain malware, so we know this is an issue that Google still has a lot of work to do. Android 10 has made significant improvements on privacy issues, providing better control over app permissions and greatly limiting the freedom apps have in the system. Google appears to be planning to shut down even more Android permissions with Android 11. There has been talk of new permission controls and greater control in apps and how they handle various parts of the system, but it’s too early to know exactly where we’ll see news on both of these topics in Android 11, but Google has made it clear that they will continue to invest energy and resources in them. 2- Software helps performance While we typically associate performance with hardware, the reality is that software plays a very important role in performance as well, so Google is committed to making Android 11 deliver better performance on smartphones, no matter what hardware they’re powered by. Part of these improvements will be due to optimization of applications in the new versions, that is, they will look for ways to make applications run much faster without requiring users to modify the system or developers to have to make major changes in their application code. 3- Innovation that is useful to users Innovation has its price, and most Android users are generally not able to enjoy the "innovations" that Google works on. In a market with so many devices, Google has mentioned that they will work on "useful innovations", that is, those that can cover most Android phones. The most obvious example is "Live Caption", a very interesting feature that is currently only available in Pixels, but Google is committed to bringing it to the maximum number of devices on the market. We’ll see more of these features in Android 11, and while the new features may not be released for millions of Android phones, we can be sure they’ll be available on more models before long. 4-Demand for more quality applications We cannot deny that one of the weak points of Android is the quality of apps, there are millions of apps that work well and perform great, but there are millions more that are of poor quality. Therefore, Google announced something called Jetpack Compose, which is more important for developers than for users, but in the end both sides will benefit from it. And Google will add more APIs to this "package" that will help new and existing applications improve their quality at the visual and operational level, on the one hand, Google will continue to work hard for developers to follow the design ideas of Material Design. |
