Cook said at the hearing that all developers are treated equally, but the evidence shows otherwise

Apple CEO Tim Cook testified before the U.S. Congressional Antitrust Subcommittee on Wednesday, and evidence has emerged that he lied to Congress, according to foreign media MSPoweruser. Cook claimed that Apple treats all developers equally.

"We treat every developer the same, we have open and transparent rules, it's a rigorous process because we care deeply about privacy and quality, and we do look at each app, but the rules apply equally to everyone," he testified. Asked if some developers were favored over others, he said: "That's not correct."

However, a 2016 email from Apple executive Eddy Cue to Jeff Bezos confirmed that Apple had offered Amazon special treatment to have their content appear on Apple TV.

The agreement confirms that Amazon will only have to pay a 15% cut of Amazon Prime Video sign-ups made through Apple TV. Other companies like Spotify have to pay 30% in similar situations.

The news may come as a surprise to Microsoft, which has been trying for years to secure special fees for its key Office products.
