How to deal with snowstorms?

On December 9, rain and snow "moved" to the Northeast.

On the morning of the 9th, the rain and snow area moved to the northeast, with rain mainly in the south and snow mainly in the north. Eastern Inner Mongolia and most of the northeast will have light to moderate snow or sleet, with light rain in parts of western Jilin, central and southern Liaoning, etc.

Northeast China has been warmer recently. In the next two days, the highest temperatures in the provincial capital cities of Shenyang, Changchun and Harbin will generally be about 10℃ higher than the same period of previous years. Shenyang will have a maximum temperature of 9℃ tomorrow, Changchun will have a maximum temperature of 5℃ the day after tomorrow, and Harbin will have a maximum temperature of 4℃ the day after tomorrow. The temperature is high and the water vapor conditions are average. It is possible that no large flakes of snow will be seen in the capital cities of Northeast China this time.

Shenyang started to experience rainfall at noon on the 9th and ended in the early morning of the 10th. It was mainly light rain and turned into sleet before the end. Changchun started to experience rainfall at night on the 9th and turned into sleet on the morning of the 10th. Harbin started with sleet and turned into snow showers in the early morning of the 10th before ending.

Meteorological experts warn that the northwest and north China will see rain and snow. Although most areas will see light rain and snow and no significant snow accumulation, people should still be alert to slippery roads and pay attention to travel safety. It is worth noting that some snow may accumulate in places with heavy snow, such as northwest Shaanxi, and in areas with lower temperatures, such as northern Heilongjiang, which will affect transportation.

How to deal with snowstorms? The following defense points need to be kept in mind

In daily life, if you encounter heavy snowfall, you should do the following:

1. When a snowstorm comes, if you are indoors, try not to go out and keep the room warm. Do not rush out to clear the snow to avoid hypothermia.

2. Use heating equipment correctly. If you use coal for heating, keep the room ventilated to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning.

3. If you must go out, in addition to keeping your body warm, it is also important to keep your head and feet warm. Arm yourself from head to toe, and it is best to wear non-slip boots.

4. The traffic safety risk index on snowy roads is high. When starting on icy and snowy roads, you should slowly release the brake or clutch, let the vehicle move slowly, and then lightly step on the accelerator. Do not step on the accelerator hard at the start, as this will easily cause the wheels to slip and side-slip. The driver should keep a distance of 2 to 3 times the usual distance from the vehicle in front, try to drive in the ruts left by the vehicle in front, and be ready to brake in advance at any time; turn the steering slowly and increase the turning radius appropriately.

Heavy snowfall can easily cause white disasters, which have an adverse impact on agriculture and animal husbandry. Farmers and herdsmen need to take the following preventive measures. In areas where the temperature drops significantly, greenhouses should be well insulated at night, and measures such as covering with straw and insulation layers should be taken. If necessary, artificial heating should be carried out using geothermal lines and other methods to prevent damage to crops caused by low temperatures. In areas where snow falls, artificial lighting should be done for facility agriculture to enhance the resistance of crops to cold weather. In areas where strong winds occur, the facility structure should be reinforced in a timely manner, and cold-proof film should be used to cover the greenhouses as much as possible.

Sheds and fodder in pastoral areas are the material basis for resisting natural disasters and ensuring that livestock spend the winter and spring safely. After snowfall, snow on the roof should be cleared in time, livestock and poultry pens should be repaired and reinforced, and livestock should be actively protected from cold and warm to prevent livestock from freezing to death or frostbite. Herders should pay attention to replenishing fodder. In addition to hay, they should feed a small amount of soybean and corn concentrate to enhance livestock's ability to resist cold and prevent them from losing weight.
