Wrong method 1: Apply soybean paste

After fermentation, soybean paste will contain bacteria. If the wound is broken, applying soybean paste on it will easily cause infection and inflammation of the wound, which will not only fail to relieve the pain, but also make the injury worse.

After a burn or scald, many people will apply soy sauce to the wound to relieve pain, which also has no scientific basis.

Soy sauce is not a sterile product and cannot relieve pain. Moreover, the wound surface will become darker after applying soy sauce, which is not conducive to the doctor's inspection of the wound damage.

Wrong method 3: Apply salt

Some people believe that applying salt after scalds or burns can disinfect them, which is also not advisable.

This is because, after a scald or burn, the wound is exposed. If you apply salt at this time, it will not only fail to relieve the pain, but will damage the cells, causing secondary damage to the already injured cells.

Wrong method 4: Apply toothpaste

Others say that applying toothpaste to burns or scalds can relieve itching and swelling.

In fact, the skin is very fragile after being injured. At this time, the toothpaste applied externally not only has no therapeutic effect, but also increases the chance of local infection of the wound and prolongs the wound healing time.

Treatment of burns

If you are suddenly burned at home, remember the following 5 first aid steps:

Flush the scalded area with running water for at least 10 minutes. This is to quickly cool the wound, relieve pain, and prevent heat from causing deeper damage to the wound.

After washing, use scissors to gently cut the clothes near the wound, and do not let the clothes stick to the wound. Do not forcibly tear off the clothes, which may easily break the blisters at the wound and cause secondary infection.
