The cockroach that was stepped on to death disappeared. Did it turn into countless small cockroaches and ran away?

Objectively speaking, as an insect, cockroaches do not look very scary. Compared with those weird-shaped creatures, cockroaches look relatively regular. However, people's fear and disgust of cockroaches is far greater than that of other insects.

From a psychological perspective, our fear of cockroaches has something to do with the infiltration of the consciousness of the people around us. I clearly remember that I used to be completely indifferent to cockroaches, but the people around me always showed fear and disgust towards them. Over time, I get goose bumps when I see cockroaches. From another perspective, human fear of cockroaches can also be seen as a special kind of "respect" for this ancient creature. After all, they lived in the same period as dinosaurs. Over hundreds of millions of years, the earth's creatures have continued to evolve, and most species have long been unrecognizable, but cockroaches have survived to this day with their tenacious vitality.

Humans regard themselves as the masters of the earth, but compared with cockroaches, humans are still too young. The cockroach is well-deserved of the title of "Xiao Qiang".

In daily life, we see only a few types of cockroaches, small cockroaches in the north and large cockroaches in the south, but in fact the cockroach family is very large. Currently, there are 4,100 known cockroach species worldwide. What is really daunting is that the vast majority of these 4,100 species of cockroaches live in overlapping areas of human activity. It seems that it is very difficult to completely drive these cockroaches out of our lives. Of course, not all types of cockroaches are disgusting. Some cockroaches are loved by insect lovers.

For northerners, the large cockroaches in the south are simply "giants", but the real cockroach giant is a guy called "rhinoceros cockroach".

The rhinoceros cockroach is the largest cockroach known so far. According to records, the largest rhinoceros cockroach found can weigh up to 60 grams, which means that 8 such cockroaches weigh almost one pound. Even the smallest rhinoceros cockroach is nearly 10 centimeters long. Rhinoceros cockroaches are relatively particular in the cockroach family. They always try to keep their bodies clean, do not drill around in garbage dumps, and do not eat everything they see. Their favorite food is eucalyptus leaves, so many insect lovers will keep them as pets, and in the field of pet insects, this thing is relatively valuable.

What kind of cockroaches do we see most often in our daily lives?

The large cockroaches generally seen in the home environment are either American cockroaches or Australian cockroaches, while the small cockroaches commonly seen in the north are German cockroaches. Don't get me wrong, the German cockroach is not from Germany. Its origin is Africa, and it flowed into my country through international commodity trade. Although the German cockroach is not as strong as the American cockroach and the Australian cockroach, it is more disgusting than those large cockroaches because they reproduce very quickly. In a year, the German cockroach can go through four to five generations. According to the method of compound interest accumulation, a pair of German cockroaches can produce about 400,000 offspring in a year. This number is simply unbelievable, but it is the case.

Not only do cockroaches reproduce quickly, they are also carriers of many pathogens. They roam everywhere and are a threat to our health, so once we find them, we always try to eliminate them.

When a cockroach moves quickly in the room, our first reaction is to step on it to death. However, if it is not handled in time after being stepped on to death, sometimes a strange thing will happen. That is, the next day, the body of the cockroach disappears. So there is a saying that the body of the cockroach has turned into countless small cockroaches and ran away. Is this true? Of course not. If so, it would be too scary. There are usually two situations when the body of the cockroach disappears. The first situation is that it was not stepped on to death. The body of the German cockroach is very thin, only about 2 mm, and our soles have a certain degree of elasticity and a certain amount of space. When we step on it, although it makes a rustling sound, it may only injure its exoskeleton and is not really stepped on to death. When we leave, it slows down and walks away again.

The second possibility is that we did step on it to death, but its body was eaten by its companions at night because cockroaches are insects with the habit of cannibalism.

Of course, it is not nonsense to say that dead cockroaches will turn into countless small cockroaches, because if the dead cockroach already has mature egg cases in its body, then the egg cases will still hatch into a large number of small cockroaches after the cockroach dies. If the cockroach is stepped on to death, then at the moment when the body is squeezed, the egg cases will be quickly ejected due to the squeezing, and eventually hatch into countless small cockroaches. Therefore, drugs are still needed to eliminate cockroaches, and physical attack is not a good method. Speaking of egg cases, let me share with you a horror incident that I experienced personally. When I was a child, a cockroach laid an egg case in my water cup without water. When I was still wondering what this ellipsoidal thing was, it suddenly exploded, and countless small cockroaches rushed out. Suddenly, I felt as if my whole body was electrocuted.
