Power sources of new energy vehicles

New energy vehicles refer to vehicles that use unconventional automotive fuels as their power source (or use conventional automotive fuels and adopt new on-board power devices), and integrate advanced technologies in vehicle power control and drive to form vehicles with advanced technical principles, new technologies, and new structures.

New energy vehicles can be roughly divided into the following categories based on fuel power:

1. Pure electric vehicles. The power of the car is provided by the battery, which provides electrical energy to the motor to drive the motor and thus propel the car. The rechargeable batteries of pure electric vehicles mainly include lead-acid batteries, nickel-cadmium batteries, nickel-metal hydride batteries and lithium-ion batteries. 2. Hybrid vehicles. These vehicles use traditional fuels and are equipped with electric motors or engines to improve low-speed power output and fuel consumption. 3. Fuel cell vehicles. Under the action of a catalyst, hydrogen, methanol, natural gas, gasoline, etc. are used as reactants to burn with oxygen in the air in the battery, generating current through chemical reactions, and the car is driven by an electric motor. For example, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are a truly pollution-free, zero-emission means of transportation, and are also the most ideal alternative to traditional vehicles.

Disadvantages and technical barriers of new energy vehicles

Although the national and local governments have introduced many preferential policies to promote the development of new energy vehicles, the new energy vehicle market still faces many problems. Hybrid vehicles have certain difficulties in maintenance and repair due to their complex power output and switching structure. In addition, during long-distance driving, hybrid vehicles have limited ability to reduce emissions, and their consumption is not much different from that of traditional vehicles. Electric vehicles can achieve short-distance noise-free and zero-pollution driving, but if the road conditions are complex or the driving distance is long, they will face the problem of insufficient power in the power battery, that is, poor endurance.

In addition, after repeated use, the power batteries of electric vehicles will more or less have problems with reduced storage capacity and power. Although the price of new energy vehicles themselves is not high, the cost of repairing batteries is high. In addition, the charging efficiency of power batteries needs to be improved. In addition, the construction of charging piles in many cities or regions in my country is not perfect, which leads to major problems and obstacles in the popularization of electric vehicles. The main disadvantage of hydrogen-powered vehicles is that there is still no effective and cheap way to obtain hydrogen fuel, and the price of hydrogen fuel and the energy consumption of hydrogen fuel production cannot be solved.

With the continuous improvement of people's environmental awareness and the emergence of the oil crisis, it has become a social consensus to carry out technological development in the automotive industry.
