The output in a fight depends entirely on "roaring". Every time you read its name, you are practicing your voice.

They are called red howler monkeys. Every time I read their names, it feels simple yet difficult. If you want to pronounce them accurately, you need to fully use and mobilize your vocal cords and open your mouth like them.

@Tai Er Xi Travel Notes

"Red~ Howler~ Monkey~"

One of their most important characteristics is of course their call. They have their own "resonance box" that makes the sound produced by their vocal cords very deep and loud, and the sound can be heard up to 2 kilometers away.

The multiple functions of calling

They use sound to announce their presence in an area and avoid such conflicts in advance to save energy. In addition, their calls can also be used to notify group members that "meal time is ready", which can better avoid competition for food.

Our Momo, the weather mood effect is fully reflected in this big boy. In rainy weather, there is always a hint of melancholy in his body, and occasionally he becomes a little irritable and roars.

The considerate keepers have a little trick! They weave hammocks and ropes with fire hoses indoors, build perches with tree stumps, and provide them with a variety of toys to ensure that they can play freely indoors even when it rains, and get some comfort when they are upset.

Both indoor and outdoor are very pleasant

The energy supplement of Loud Voice is here!

After roaring, you have to moisten your throat. Red howler monkeys mainly eat leaves, but they also eat nuts, small animals, fruits, seeds and flowers.

Because the food contains low energy, and even many leaves contain tannic acid that will hinder the absorption of nutrients by howler monkeys, red howler monkeys must eat a lot. The amount of food they eat in a day is about half of their own body weight.

Therefore, they prefer to stay in the tree canopy, where there are the most leaves. And they generally do not drink water directly, but get the water they need from their food.

Momo: Hey, you can’t see me

Such a cozy environment is inseparable from the hard work of the staff. In the spring of this year, when everything grows, the gardening department planted a batch of new trees in the red howler monkey exhibition area. Not only did it enrich their living environment, but it also increased their food diversity. At the same time, these trees can provide them with necessary shade in the hot summer weather, helping them to resist the direct sunlight.

Workers planting trees

As soon as they were planted, the Momo family began to explore the new "furniture"! Some ate leaves from the tree, and some jumped back and forth on the branches.

It seems the little ones like it very much.

The tail has its uses, too!

Among the monkeys in the Gondwana exhibition area, in addition to the spider monkey's tail which acts as the "fifth hand", the red howler monkey's tail is also quite interesting.

Shanshan is resting, and Shine is "exercising"

Their tails can also hold onto things, are about 49-75cm long, and can also provide additional support when moving. For example, when the red howler monkey baby Shining was young, it was in its mother's arms. In addition to holding its mother's arms tightly, it would also wrap its tail around its mother's legs to maintain a stable posture. Look, they climbed up the tree and started eating leaves, often hanging on the branches with their tails and chewing directly with their mouths, and occasionally using their tails to pull branches to their mouths to chew.

How convenient is the best way?

Interlude:

After getting food, Shan-Shan often runs to his mother Shan-Shan, snuggles up to her and slowly looks for food. But Shan-Shan, who eats fast, will snatch the food directly from Shan-Shan's hands. But Shan-Shan will not give the food to his mother easily, you see——

Shining: Oh, Mom! How did it end up in your hands?

Shining: Give me a bite

Shining: Drag – Good Mom

Shining: Hey, I finally got it.

Because of Shanshan's "alternative and unique" love, Shanshan has grown up faster. He can eat and play alone, and can also take the initiative to go home. Shanshan, who is over one year old, and Pijiu, who is ten months old, are at the age of being lively and active. Under the cool shade provided by the newly planted trees, they seem to have found the perfect place to play. Whenever the sun is strong and the adult red howler monkeys choose to rest, these two little guys are full of energy, hooking their little tails and playing.

The two little guys had a great time.

The summer is hot,

Come to Gondwana to see their friends,

Look up into the tree canopy.

Maybe they are resting there.

Everyone, please be careful to prevent heatstroke when traveling!
