Beichen Asia Market: Analysis of Beijing’s Auto Market in January 2022

1. New car transaction situation

• In January, Beijing's new car transactions totaled 52,000 units, a month-on-month decrease of 21.77%, 5.07 percentage points higher than the national average; a year-on-year decrease of 3.35%, 4.75 percentage points higher than the national average.

• In January, 4,414 imported cars were traded in Beijing, a decrease of 10.12% from the previous month and 12.32% from the previous year. The sales of imported cars remained sluggish.

• In January 2022, sales of imported cars in Beijing accounted for 8.48% of Beijing’s total new car transactions, an increase of 1.1 percentage points month-on-month and a decrease of 0.87 percentage points year-on-year.

• In January, Beijing's new energy vehicle sales totaled 11,000 units, down 41% from the previous month and 7.04% from the previous year, accounting for 21.3% of the total new vehicle sales. Pure electric vehicles sold 6,500 units, accounting for 59.59% of new energy vehicle sales. Domestic new energy vehicles sold 10,300 units, accounting for 93.98% of new energy vehicle sales.

• In January, 46,700 second-hand cars were transferred in Beijing, down 26.15% from the previous month and 5.14% from the previous year. The out-migration rate was 41.87% and the ratio of new to old cars was 1:0.9.
