China Automobile Dealers Association: Retail sales ranking of various automobile brands in February 2022

According to the latest retail sales data from the China Automobile Dealers Association's Automotive Market Research Branch (CPCA), sales in the domestic narrow passenger car market reached 1.25 million vehicles in February, a year-on-year increase of 4.5% and a month-on-month decrease of 39.9%; the cumulative sales in January-February were 3.328 million vehicles, a year-on-year decrease of 1.6%.

Analysis in February : As 2022 begins , production and wholesale sales are gradually strengthening, and the overall market supply is showing a warming trend. Manufacturers are actively preparing for a good start to the new year. Although there were multiple outbreaks of the epidemic in developed eastern regions in February , the overall market was still boosted to high growth under the support of family epidemic prevention needs and the start of the school season.

Retail: The total retail sales of the top 15 automakers this month was 946,000 units, with a market concentration of 75.2% , down 0.6 percentage points from the previous month. The retail structure of the models in February is analyzed as follows :

German cars (three): FAW-Volkswagen and SAIC Volkswagen took first and second place respectively. In February , the market share of German cars was 17.7% , down 5.8 percentage points from the previous month.

Japanese cars (five): market share was 22.5% , up 5.9 percentage points from the previous month. Dongfeng Nissan firmly holds the top spot among Japanese cars, and its sales volume is close to that of Toyota and Toyota in the retail ranking.

American cars (one company): market share was 5.8% , basically the same as last month.

Self-owned brands (six): market share was 29.2% , down 0.8 percentage points from the previous month. BYD became the new runner-up, up 340.4% year -on-year, Geely Automobile squeezed into the top five, SAIC-GM-Wuling, Great Wall Motor, Changan Automobile and Chery Automobile also performed well, among which Chery Automobile increased by 21.8% .

Wholesale: The total wholesale sales of the top 15 automakers this month was 1.095 million units, with a market concentration of 74.6%, up 0.5 percentage points from the previous month. The analysis of the wholesale sales structure of vehicle series in February is as follows:
German cars (two): FAW-Volkswagen and SAIC Volkswagen took the first and second place respectively. In February, the market share of German cars was 15.0%, down 3.2 percentage points from the previous month.
Japanese cars (five): market share was 22.3%, up 4.6 percentage points from the previous month. Dongfeng Nissan firmly holds the top spot among Japanese cars, with sales of both "Nanfeng and Nanfeng" and "Nanfeng and Nanben" exceeding 50,000 units.
American cars (two companies): market share was 9.0%, up 3.9 percentage points from the previous month, helped by the inclusion of Tesla China in the list this month.
Domestic brands (six): market share was 28.3%, down 4.8 percentage points from the previous month. BYD became the largest domestic brand, up 333.6% year-on-year, Geely Auto squeezed into the top five, SAIC Passenger Car ranked ninth, up 99.8% year-on-year; Changan, Great Wall and Chery also performed well.
