Raspberry Pi, which "sticks to the $35 price tag", has officially released its new product, Raspberry Pi 2. In addition to the unchanged price and faster processor, Raspberry Pi 2 will also be equipped with Microsoft's "specially made" Windows 10 system. According to the official blog of Raspberry Pi, Raspberry Pi 2 is equipped with a 900MHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 processor and 1GB RAM, which is a performance improvement over the original Raspberry Pi with a 700MHz single-core ARMv6 processor and 512MB RAM. Other configurations of Raspberry Pi 2 are similar to the Raspberry Pi B+ released in July, with two full-size USB ports, a microUSB port and a full-size HDMI port. In addition, Raspberry Pi also mentioned in the blog that Raspberry Pi 2 will be equipped with Microsoft's Windows 10 system. In the past 6 months, they have worked with Microsoft to create Windows 10 for Raspberry Pi 2, and in the future, this system will be provided free of charge to members of the maker community. On the same day, Microsoft also announced in its developer center that Microsoft has reached a cooperation with the Raspberry Pi Foundation to ensure that Windows 10 is compatible with new Raspberry Pi products. Microsoft said that Windows 10 development tools, services, and ecosystems will be provided free of charge to the maker community through the Windows Developer Program for IoT. More relevant information will be announced in the coming months. In a subsequent release video, Mike Powell, R&D manager at Raspberry Pi product manufacturer Element 14, said that Raspberry Pi 2 has greatly improved computer processing power, which will enable it to have a wider range of applications in the future. People who are familiar with Raspberry Pi should know that Raspberry Pi was originally launched to encourage children to learn programming and computer knowledge. Although the Raspberry Pi Foundation still emphasizes the role of Raspberry Pi in education, its popularity among makers and computer enthusiasts cannot be ignored. Raspberry Pi 2 will not only bring a better experience for students to learn programming, but also provide more room for makers to play. What's even more gratifying is that Raspberry Pi 2 is still "more quantity without price increase". From now on, users can buy Raspberry Pi 2 from Raspberry Pi supplier Element14 for $35. However, it may take some time to use Windows 10. |
