Tomahawk F1 game console experience: It’s too early to challenge the giants

When it comes to TV game consoles, I think the first thing that comes to mind is the "Big Three" in the gaming industry, Sony's PlayStation, Microsoft's Xbox, and Nintendo's Wii. With their rich game content and a group of highly loyal gamers, the "three-way split" situation seems difficult to change. Of course, the early domestic Xiaobawang also occupied an important position in the living room for a long time in the name of "learning machine", but the domestic TV game industry has been slow to keep up with the international pace. In addition, the word "game" is not a positive term in the eyes of many students' parents, and domestic TV games have not developed smoothly as players wish. Fortunately, the e-sports industry has gradually become industrialized in recent years. Since the release of the licensed versions of Xbox One and PS4, the domestic market's attitude towards TV game consoles seems to have undergone some subtle changes. Speaking of the major events of domestic TV games this year, perhaps we have to mention the first TV game console released by Axe Technology last month: Tomahawk F1. With the halo of the first game console in China, I think domestic game players will more or less have some expectations for it, or even doubts. From the game console itself to the game content provided, can Tomahawk F1 really support the domestic TV game market? This time we got the Tomahawk F1 Elite Edition of Axe Technology, which is the version priced at 1,499 yuan. There is also a free version priced at 899 yuan below it. Compared with the mainstream PS4, Xbox One and Wii U consoles, Tomahawk F1 fills the gap in the game console price range of 1,000 yuan. For an Internet brand game console that is mainly placed in the living room, this should be done, but when other devices are placed on the game console, the two side panels will also drop, which will look a bit strange. Controller: comfortable feel, but the L/R keys are slightly jerky The wireless controller with a dual joystick dislocation design may remind players of the Xbox controller, because the wider and rounder design, plus the skin-like coating with better touch, can fit the palm better while the fingers can touch the joystick and buttons just right, and the texture of the anodized aluminum cross direction key is also good, so the overall feel is still very satisfactory. However, the top button with the FUZE logo and the L/R keys on the side feel relatively dry and look a bit cheap, which is really not right. The vibration part uses four asymmetrically distributed vibration motors, and the vibration feedback effect is close to the mainstream PS4 level. However, in the first games of Tomahawk F1, most games do not support vibration very well, and vibration feedback will only be available in some scenes. There is still a lot of room for improvement in software optimization. The wireless controller is connected to the host via Bluetooth 4.0. A host can connect to up to 4 controllers. A wireless controller is randomly attached. If you buy another wireless controller, it costs 199 yuan. There are 4 colors to choose from. According to my experience on PS4, theoretically, the transmission speed and distance should have good performance, but in fact, the transmission speed and response of the wireless controller that comes standard with Tomahawk F1 are good, but the transmission distance does not seem to achieve the expected effect. When the distance from the game console is about 3 meters or more, there will occasionally be no response or delay. Game experience: general picture effect, lack of attractive content Fuze OS built on the Android system can be said to be the biggest highlight of Tomahawk F1, but also the most questionable place. It is a big challenge for Axe to create a UI interaction interface and game content optimized for games under the Android system. First of all, the hardware configuration of the Tomahawk F1 is not very powerful, and it is even inferior to this year's mainstream Android flagship phones. However, we still do not label it based on the hardware configuration first, but experience the system and games in detail before evaluating them one by one. Entering the main interface of Fuze OS, it seems that you have the illusion of entering the PS4 interface again, but if you don't know in advance that Fuze OS is built on the Android system, it may be really difficult to imagine how much Fuze Technology has changed the entire underlying Android system. From left to right: Mall, Homepage, Dynamics, Games, Videos, Live Broadcasts, Films, Recommended Friends, the top module has wallets, messages, download tasks, account information, settings, etc. The main interface is rich in content, but the operation logic is relatively simple and easy to understand, especially for PS4 users. However, we still found that Fuze OS is still lacking in optimization at the software level . Occasionally, when entering the system from standby mode, or performing other tasks during the download process, the operation of the system main interface will be stuck and not smooth. In terms of the mall, Fuze OS currently has 21 games, including a 3A masterpiece "Dynasty Warriors 7". All games can be downloaded for free, and other content in the game needs to be purchased separately. The recharge platform supports WeChat/Alipay settlement, which is also quite down-to-earth. Since there are many games and the length of the article is limited, several games are mainly selected here for testing. "Dynasty Warriors 7", which debuted as a 3A game, is naturally an indispensable test game. Limited by the read and write speed of the mechanical hard disk, loading the game is not very fast. Although the console supports 1080P resolution output, the overall picture quality still looks a bit rough and not fine enough, and it feels comparable to the picture quality of PlayStation3. It can run smoothly in most scenes, but there will still be a moment of freeze when encountering complex scenes with many special effects such as casting big moves. The quality of the picture is also average. There are not many games that can keep you playing for a while. After several editorial colleagues experienced it and combined everyone's opinions, in short, the game experience of Tomahawk F1 is more suitable for leisure and entertainment, but if you want to enjoy the ultimate picture effects and rich game plots from the game, Tomahawk F1 cannot give you a very satisfactory experience. However, considering the games and systems developed based on the Android platform, Tomahawk F1 can achieve similar effects to mainstream TV game consoles in domestic TV game consoles, which is also good. Localized services: LeTV provides video and Panda TV provides live broadcast Video and live broadcast have become an important part of electronic game competition. Tomahawk, which holds high the banner of the Internet and enters the TV game market, wants to make more differentiated experiences and services. It is believed that Axe Technology will be more down-to-earth than PlayStation and Xbox by optimizing for local areas. The video content in the Fuze OS system mainly comes from videos uploaded by the official and players, and is pushed according to the user's preferences. In terms of live broadcast, Fuzi Technology cooperates with Panda TV to broadcast the game screen to Panda TV. This can be achieved by registering an account in Panda TV and activating the live broadcast function. Under the live broadcast interface, select "I want to broadcast live" to display the game screen in the live broadcast room of Panda TV. Fuze OS has a built-in video recording function, and users can record game videos or screenshots without affecting the game. Short press View in the wireless controller to take a screenshot, and long press the View button to record the screen. The maximum recording time is 2 minutes in MP4 format with a clarity of 720P. In addition, Fuzi Technology also cooperates with LeTV TV. In addition to being able to play games, it can also act as a TV box. Therefore, you can use a LeTV account or a Blueport interactive account when logging in to Fuze OS. Summary: The road of domestic consoles is long and arduous. As a PS4 player, there may be many things to criticize about the Tomahawk F1, but for a user who has never touched or even heard of PlayStation, Xbox One, or Wii U, if the Tomahawk F1 can be quickly recognized by the market, giving users a gaming world different from mobile phones and PCs, and changing the perceptions of most domestic users about TV game consoles, this may be a bright road for domestic game consoles. Taking the data from the "2015 China Game Industry Report" as an example, in 2015, the actual sales revenue of the Chinese game market reached 140.7 billion yuan, and the actual sales revenue of the TV game market reached 220 million yuan, accounting for only 0.15% of the national game revenue, far below the international mainstream level. Compared with the mainstream international market, the domestic TV game market, which has experienced a 14-year blockade, is now only in a starting stage. In addition, users are "resistant" to paid games. Under the cover of free mobile games, the road to the revival of TV game consoles in China is long and arduous, and there don't seem to be many brands that dare to venture into the domestic TV game market. Axe Technology can be said to have only opened a chapter in domestic game consoles. As for whether user concepts can change as desired, it is still an unknown. Fuze OS, which is built on the Android platform, is not easy for Axe Technology, which has just entered school. Among domestic TV game consoles, the game camp has also reached a relatively high level. In terms of feelings for the game industry, Axe Technology should come up with more amazing products and game masterpieces, and use the advantages of localized services to create more competitive products, but in Axe Technology's first product, the Tomahawk F1, it may still seem a little young.
