Around 2015, Ma Huateng expressed his concerns about the mobile WeChat payment market, saying that a new payment method would replace WeChat and Alipay. Jack Ma also had such a hunch. This is not groundless, because as early as 2014, the country proposed the idea of digital RMB. Perhaps at that time, Ma Huateng knew that the mobile payment market would undergo a huge change, or even a reshuffle. Digital RMB is Ma Huateng's prediction and the nemesis of WeChat Pay Compared with Alipay, the digital RMB has a greater impact on WeChat Pay. The digital RMB is mainly used to popularize offline payment scenarios, where WeChat Pay has about 60% of the market. WeChat Pay has an absolute position in offline payments. Previously, people were worried that the digital RMB could only be operated on mobile phones, and many people who were not used to mobile payments would not be able to use it. Unexpectedly, such a problem was solved so quickly. It has to be said that the efficiency of the central bank should not be too high. In the pilot on January 5, 2021, a physical card was launched specifically for people who are not accustomed to mobile payment. The card can show the account balance, number of consumption, etc. The trouble of carrying cash when going out is also solved, and the elderly no longer need to calculate the bill. After several pilot projects, QR code payment, mobile phone tapping, online shopping, and offline cards have almost all been well resolved. The next step is to conduct an overall test. Before the end of the year, there is hope that the digital RMB will enter our lives. WeChat Pay is under threat. How should the mobile payment market be rectified? Although the promotion of digital RMB across the country has become a trend, the status of WeChat Pay has been impacted and the mobile payment market has been reshuffled, but there are still many problems in the market waiting for us to solve and rectify before it can operate safely. For example, can the digital RMB launch different discounts like WeChat and Alipay? Although the digital RMB is a necessary policy, it does have the shortcoming of bullying the weak. We must be fully prepared in advance for these public opinion controls. However, compared with the digital RMB, WeChat Pay needs to make more rectifications. WeChat Pay should reflect on whether it has used its market position to interfere with fair competition, or engaged in monopoly-like behaviors, or formed cliques. It's not just WeChat Pay, WeChat itself needs to think about a lot more. As a social platform with 1.2 billion users and a national-level app, it's worth thinking about whether Tencent has legally used WeChat's resources or whether it has used WeChat for illegal competition. ByteDance published a statement directly targeting WeChat, and WeChat's monopoly accusations have not stopped On the evening of January 7, I saw that ByteDance published a statement accusing WeChat of unfair competition and deliberately suppressing ByteDance by not allowing ByteDance’s three office applets to be launched on WeChat. While respecting the absolute status of WeChat in social networking, I also hope that WeChat can treat everyone equally. Not only ByteDance, a lawyer has been complaining about WeChat's social monopoly since 2018. Although he lost the case due to insufficient evidence in 2019, in 2021, the lawyer prepared sufficient evidence and once again accused WeChat. WeChat has 1.2 billion users. No matter what, a national-level APP should do things that benefit the people, rather than using WeChat's advantages to form cliques and suppress competitors. This is the common view of almost everyone on Tencent. Yesterday, Duoduo Auto Chess became a huge hit, and Tencent is about to release a King of Glory Auto Chess. NetEase released a 5v5 fair competition mobile game, and Tencent is about to release a King of Glory. I want to say that with so many people on WeChat and QQ, no matter how good the quality of NetEase’s games is, it can’t compare to Tencent’s. WeChat Pay is replaced by digital RMB, but WeChat itself is still a hidden danger If you control the traffic, you control the money. Tencent has undoubtedly taken this to the extreme. With 1.2 billion traffic on WeChat, as long as the product is not too bad and disgusts users, is there anything that Tencent cannot cultivate? WeChat Pay has the digital RMB to conquer it, but what about WeChat itself? What kind of thing can allow Tencent to use it legally? Monopoly is a fact, and it is time to target WeChat. |
