Some 5G models are out of stock: my country's 5G mobile phone popularization is further accelerated

Zhao Ming, president of Honor brand, said in an interview that they currently have more than ten 5G mobile phones on sale, and all of them are in short supply. In the first quarter of 2021, and even in the second quarter, they were desperately trying to increase procurement, supply chain, delivery, and production capacity.

In the 5G era, the design and production complexity of mobile phone products have greatly increased, and the usage of some components has also increased significantly. At present, the gap between supply and demand of these components continues to widen, and manufacturers are expanding production capacity to ensure supply.

Nan Xueliang, head of the LTCC filter business unit of an electronic technology company in Shenzhen, said that their original production lines, such as the LTCC part, were about 12. After the first phase of expansion, the expansion will be 80%, reaching 20 lines. In the second half of 2021, the production capacity will double again, and the number of employees will increase by about 40%.

Data released by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology showed that in 2020, the proportion of 5G mobile phone shipments in my country increased month by month, gradually rising from a low of 26.3% in January last year to 39.3% in April, 46.3% in May, and 61.2% in June. Since then, the proportion has remained above 60%, reaching 68.0% in January this year, with shipments reaching 27.278 million units, a monthly record high.

The industry believes that with the further deployment of 5G base stations and the emergence of more 5G applications, 2021 will become the year when the 5G industry chain will fully explode.

However, at present, 5G mobile phone applications are still in the initial development stage, which limits the product experience of 5G mobile phone users.

In the long run, the general trend of 5G mobile phones becoming the mainstream of the smartphone market will not change. In the future, we must start from the demand side, stimulate consumers' rigid needs, reflect the advantages of 5G in communication transmission on smartphones, and develop more application products suitable for 5G mobile phones. The popularization of 5G mobile phones will be further accelerated.
