How do iPhone 13 users choose 4G or 5G packages? Learn in one article

[[426010]]

In the past few days, users who have pre-ordered iPhone 13 have received their phones one after another. For Apple users, iPhone 13 can be said to be a generation of products with good signal and comprehensive 5G support. So the question is, with China's 5G so attractive, how should we choose a package? Don't change if you already have an unlimited package

There is a saying that for operators, old users are worse than dogs, and new packages are always more affordable than old users' packages. But there is an exception. In 2014, China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom launched unlimited packages to attract 4G users. Specifically, for a monthly fee of 99 or other amounts, you can enjoy 20G or more high-speed traffic every month. After the traffic exceeds the limit, the speed will be reduced to 3G network. This package can now use 5G, so it is very cost-effective.

Do not change the unlimited packages of major operators

I believe many people may still be using this package. Here I would like to remind you that if you are using this package, then do not change it, because the new package no longer has unlimited traffic. The network will be disconnected when the high-speed traffic is exhausted, but this package does not disconnect the network. To be honest, since not many people use 3G network, although the speed is limited to 1M, the speed experience is still good. You can't watch videos but it doesn't affect chatting.

Comparison of China Mobile's 4G and 5G packages

4G packages are no longer cost-effective

In the 2G era, China Mobile's government affairs communication, group phone and other services were very cost-effective, including the advantage of China Mobile's signal coverage at the time, so China Mobile has always had the most users to this day. Now, taking the Beijing Mobile package that can be found online as an example, it is currently around 200 yuan, and the traffic of the 4G package is about 30-50G. This price is still acceptable if the traffic is unlimited, but if it is limited (depending on local policies and regulations), it is better to upgrade to 5G.

5G packages can be purchased at a lower price

But when it comes to 5G, you will find that there are only family packages available on the website, which means that the package comes with fixed-line fiber broadband, or multiple people share the data in a package. But in fact, there are still individual packages available, and the price can be lower than the price in the picture. For example, the entry-level version of 128 yuan can be reduced by 40 yuan to 88 yuan per month, which is equivalent to reducing the cost and increasing the data of the package.

How to choose China Telecom or China Unicom

China Telecom and China Unicom were originally one company, but later they were divided into two regions. However, now they have penetrated each other's territory. For example, China Telecom is in the north and China Unicom is in the south. If you choose service quality, then China Unicom in the north and China Telecom in the south are definitely better. However, if you choose cost-effectiveness, then it is the other way around. Both sides have great discounts in each other's territory.

But why put these two together? Because in order to reduce investment, the two actually have a mechanism for cooperation and co-construction. In many cases, China Telecom and China Unicom have one base station and two services, so the signal coverage is basically the same. Can you understand it now? In fact, sometimes the three operators share one base station, which belongs to the tower company.

Therefore, it is your personal choice whether to choose service or affordability.

China Unicom 4G 5G package comparison

To be honest, the packages I give here are only online. If you go to various business halls in the same city to inquire, or communicate with your account manager, the results you get may be different. I won’t elaborate on the reasons. Because the three operators have cancelled the roaming fees and the flow of traffic within and outside the province, in theory, you can buy packages in any place as long as the price-performance ratio is high enough. But now many places have introduced restrictive measures, that is, users from other provinces are no longer allowed to take advantage of loopholes, and they must have their own provincial ID cards to enjoy the local preferential cost packages.

Telecom in Liaoning

China Unicom in Guangdong

For example, this telecom package that can only be processed online originally costs 199 yuan, but it only costs 139 yuan per month online, with 60GB of data and 1,000 minutes of talk time. It can be said that Telecom is full of sincerity in the northern province of Liaoning. Conversely, China Unicom's package in Guangdong is exactly the same, which can be said to be a case of giving someone a taste of their own medicine.

It is more cost-effective for new users to bundle fixed-line

For new users, they can also consider the fixed-line and mobile phone bundled packages mentioned above. Generally, for less than 200 yuan a month, they can get 200-500MB of fixed-line + around 40G of traffic. This combination package can be said to be one cent for both networks, which is much more cost-effective than paying more than 2,000 yuan a year for the fixed-line service a few years ago.

If you are in a third-tier city or above, the 4G and 5G signals everywhere should be similar. Either you have both or you don't. It is rare for one operator to have a monopoly advantage.

But it is hard to say the situation in fourth, fifth and sixth tier towns. You still need to choose operators and packages based on the actual local signals. In some places, there are actually not many choices. At this time, you can compare with the exclusive packages online to see whether the online package is suitable or the local one is more favorable. The following is a link to the packages sold on the JD platform, which is a good comparison object.
