Apple responds: iOS 16 paste pop-up must be fixed, or next week!

Apple has always focused on protecting user privacy, and many of its privacy protection features are benchmarks in the industry. The copy and paste pop-up reminder in iOS 16 is because there are often personal privacy such as passwords and addresses in the clipboard, and the APP reading them privately will lead to the leakage of user privacy.

Although the starting point of this operation is good, many users feel that every time they paste content from one APP to another, the iPhone will pop up a window asking whether to allow it, which is too cumbersome. Many people think that there should be a one-click option to allow or deny, so that they don’t have to operate manually every time, but Apple is unlikely to launch a one-click button to close it, which is equivalent to allowing App developers to violate user privacy. However, after the user makes a choice in the pop-up window, this APP will no longer remind you to automatically read the user’s clipboard.

Therefore, the key to solving this pop-up problem lies in the APP itself. The only temporary solution is: open the privacy settings in the APP settings - clipboard reading - turn it off, so that there will be no pop-up reminders when you open it in the future. However, currently only a few APPs have this setting, and you need to wait for subsequent updates.

Apple has not improved this problem in the latest iOS 16.1 Beat version. Netizen Kieran sent an email to Craig Federighi and Cook, complaining about the constant pop-up windows and advocating that Apple treat clipboard access in the same way that iOS treats third-party access to location, camera, microphone, etc.

Apple senior manager Ron Huang joined the discussion. He said: "This is definitely not expected behavior, we will get to the bottom of it," he went on to add that this behavior has not been seen within Apple, but many users have experienced this frequent pop-up behavior.

Ron Huang said this problem must be fixed and applications such as Mail can be set up to work normally without frequent requests for permission.

According to the latest report from the Wall Street Journal, Apple is currently debugging iOS 16.1 with developers and public testers, and said that it will solve the problem of frequent pop-ups in the software update to be released next week. It will also solve the problem of some iPhone 14 Pro freezing after transferring data from another iPhone, and will fix the problem of the Pro series rear camera shaking in third-party apps such as Snapchat, TikTok and Instagram.
