Tyrannosaurus Rex is a well-known ferocious carnivorous dinosaur that sometimes even killed each other, and the most famous member of this type of dinosaur is Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Scientists have found clear tooth marks on the skull and jaw of a Tyrannosaurus Rex discovered in Dinosaur Provincial Park in Alberta, Canada, providing the best evidence to date to support the above claims.

The discovered dinosaur, known as Dreadnoughtus (pictured above fighting with another of its kind), died before reaching full adulthood, but still weighed about 500 kilograms and was nearly 6 meters long, only slightly smaller than Tyrannosaurus Rex. Dreadnoughtus lived approximately 75 million years ago, nearly 10 million years earlier than Tyrannosaurus Rex.

An article published online this week in PeerJ states that researchers inferred from the spacing and shape of the compression marks on its skull that it was bitten by another Tyrannosaurus Rex while it was still alive—most likely another Dreadnought—and that the two dinosaurs may have fought, resulting in this injury.

Although the wounds later healed, the teeth marks on its lower jaw indicate that this carnivore became food for another Tyrannosaurus Rex after its death.
