This afternoon (3rd), the State Council’s Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism held a press conference in Beijing. At the meeting, Chen Qian, market inspection commissioner of the State Administration for Market Regulation, introduced that farmers' markets, including wholesale markets, are important channels for urban food supply. It is understood that more than 70% of livestock and poultry meat, aquatic products, vegetables and fruits flow into our market through farmers' markets and wholesale markets.
In the next step, the State Administration for Market Regulation will urge all localities to always keep a tight grip on epidemic prevention and control, conscientiously implement local management responsibilities, effectively strengthen food safety supervision in key places such as farmers' markets, take Beijing Xinfadi Market as a warning, focus on investigating safety risks in farmers' markets, and deploy to strengthen the management of food safety risks in key places such as wholesale markets.
Crack down on illegal wildlife trade, prohibit the consumption of wild animals, restrict the trade and slaughter of live poultry, and encourage places with conditions to promote centralized slaughter of live poultry.
