This is the fourth tropical system to land in Guangdong this year after Typhoon Siam, the tropical depression in the South China Sea, and Typhoon Mulan.

According to @Guangdong Weather, "Ma'an" is expected to move rapidly to the northwest at a speed of about 25 kilometers per hour, passing through Maoming and entering Guangxi in the afternoon of the 25th, with its intensity gradually weakening. Under its influence, today, cities and counties in western Guangdong will have heavy rain to torrential rain with local extremely heavy rain, heavy rain to torrential rain with local heavy rain in the southern Pearl River Delta, and moderate to heavy rain with local heavy rain in coastal cities and counties in eastern Guangdong.

Affected by "Ma'an", Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Yunnan and other places will experience significant wind and rain today and tomorrow. Relevant departments and the public need to be vigilant against secondary disasters such as floods in small and medium rivers, urban and rural waterlogging, etc.

Xu Yinglong, chief forecaster of the Typhoon and Marine Meteorological Forecast Center of the Central Meteorological Observatory, analyzed that Typhoon "Ma'an" has two characteristics:

First, its moving speed is fast . Due to the strong subtropical high pressure, strong winds on its south side and strong guiding airflow, the moving speed of "Saddle" is maintained at 30 to 35 kilometers per hour. The general moving speed of typhoons in the South China Sea is only 15 kilometers per hour, and "Saddle" is much higher than this level.

The second is the asymmetric structure , which is reflected in the impact of wind and rain. The strong winds brought by "Saddle" are concentrated on the east side of its forward direction, while the precipitation is concentrated on the west and south sides.

In addition, in terms of strong winds, from the 24th to the 26th, there will be strong winds of 7 to 9 degrees in the central and northern South China Sea, the Bashi Channel, the southern waters of the Taiwan Strait, the Beibu Gulf, the waters near the Xisha Islands, the waters near the Zhongsha Islands, as well as the southwestern coast of Taiwan Island, the coast of Guangdong, the coast of Guangxi, and the coast of Hainan Island. The wind force in the nearby seas or regions where the center of "Masaddle" passes can reach 10 to 12 degrees, with gusts of 13 to 14 degrees.
