In 2016, China's LCD panel production capacity continued to increase, but the overall market demand was somewhat weak. After the second half of 2016, the supply and demand of LCD panels continued to tighten. Some institutions predict that the supply level of the LCD panel market may further tighten in 2017. Japan's Asahi Glass (AGC) set up a factory in Huizhou from April to June this year, NEG set up a factory in Nanjing, and Corning also started four glass substrate projects in Chongqing, with a total investment of more than 3.5 billion yuan. The situation of China's dependence on imports of glass substrates has gradually been broken. This year, panel prices have a downward trend, because the market demand for laptops and monitors has begun to stabilize, and production and inventory have been somewhat indigestible. At the same time, panel manufacturers are introducing new production lines to produce new panels. For example, this year's AMOLED panels have emerged as a new force and may become the mainstream technology for small and medium-sized panels in 2017. OLED is recognized by the industry as a revolutionary display technology and is expected to dominate future displays. It has physical advantages that LCD technology cannot match, with a very simple structure and an extremely thin body. Quantum dot technology is based on LED backlight, adding a new luminous medium to obtain pure monochromatic light, and obtains luminous properties that surpass traditional LED backlight, effectively improving the color performance of LCD. They pose an increasing threat to traditional LCD panels. Their advantages over LCD panels will allow their market share to continue to expand in the new year. 2017 is destined to be a year of diversified development of display technology. Many manufacturers in the Chinese panel industry are making plans for future market development and grabbing positions in advance to compete for more market share .
