Porsche and Bosch employees under investigation for suspected involvement in diesel cheating

According to foreign media reports, the Stuttgart prosecutor's office in Germany has conducted a preliminary investigation into Porsche employees, suspecting that Porsche employees were involved in designing the engine management software used for test cheating. At the same time, the above prosecutor's office has also started the process of formally investigating three Bosch employees, hoping to find out whether the employees involved played a role in the Volkswagen cheating scandal.

On June 29, local time, Stuttgart prosecutor Jan Holzner said that the investigation into Porsche is still in its initial stages and has not yet entered the formal process. As of press time, Porsche has not yet responded.

The Stuttgart prosecutors' investigation into Porsche is the latest development in the Volkswagen Group's cheating scandal. So far, illegal software has been found in some diesel vehicles of Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche under the Volkswagen Group. According to reports, some Porsche models are equipped with 3.0-liter diesel engines provided by Audi, and the Munich prosecutors are investigating whether Audi was involved in the design of the diesel cheating engines.

Official investigation into three Bosch managers

As for the investigation into Bosch, prosecutor Holzner said a formal investigation has been launched into three Bosch managers to try to find out whether they had instigated Volkswagen's emissions cheating.

Holzner noted that "we are investigating three employees at Bosch, all of whom held the highest positions in middle management, that is, manager level." However, Holzner did not rule out the possibility of expanding the investigation.

Bosch was previously reported to supply the engine control unit, called EDC17, for Volkswagen's EA189 diesel engine, which is at the center of the Volkswagen cheating scandal.

Bosch said it takes the allegations of engine manipulation very seriously and will fully cooperate with the authorities in the investigation. As the case is ongoing, Bosch declined to comment on the details.
