How to properly protect the skin around the eyes

Are the small white bumps around the eyes fat particles?

In fact, the small bumps around the eyes are not necessarily fat particles. In medicine, they have different names according to their different characteristics.

Some people have some small white or yellow bumps around their eyes. They feel harder than the skin around the eyes, and white oily substances come out when squeezed hard. These small bumps are called milia.

Many people believe that milia are caused by using too nutritious eye cream. In fact, it is not true. If the skin is not damaged, no matter how thick or nutritious the eye cream is, it will not cause milia.

Usually, it is because of our daily care, such as using scrub, cleansing brush, or rubbing the eyes too hard with our hands, which causes small wounds around the eyes. Then skin care products or other substances enter the wounds and are wrapped in the skin as the wounds heal, forming these small bumps.

So, don’t misjudge eye cream anymore!

Some people also have dark-colored bumps around their eyes, which contain tiny sweat hairs. These are not fat particles, but keratosis pilaris caused by poor skin metabolism.

Keratosis pilaris

Keratosis pilaris is partly a genetic problem and partly related to skin care habits.

This type of problem is also related to hormone levels. It is often more serious during adolescence and can only be alleviated by improving keratin metabolism levels.

In addition, there is another type of skin problem that is easily mistaken for fat particles. Some relatively flat growths that are slightly larger than the first two types will appear around the eyes. These growths are often large in area, densely distributed around the lower eyelid, and symmetrically distributed. This type of skin manifestation is called syringoma.

Syringoma

Syringoma is a type of benign tumor that originates from the sweat gland structure and mostly occurs in young women.

It will not become malignant but will grow slowly, but it will not disappear naturally and will greatly affect the appearance.

How to treat fat particles around the eyes?

Milia

Usually no treatment is needed and it will naturally disappear as the skin metabolizes. If it does not disappear for a long time, you can also ask a doctor to pick it out with a needle under the premise of disinfection.

It is worth noting that you must not squeeze it with your hands. Not only is it very easy to get infected, but it may also cause a larger trauma surface because the skin around the eyes is too thin, and even cause post-inflammatory pigmentation, which makes it difficult to recover.

Follicular keratosis

In addition to adjusting hormone levels, you can also use some skin care products on a daily basis to help keratin metabolism and smooth the skin. After a period of time, there will be better improvement.

Syringoma

Compared with the first two problems, it is more troublesome. It will not disappear on its own and cannot be solved by needles. If the situation is serious, you need to go to the hospital and ask the doctor to use laser to remove it. Be careful not to believe the propaganda of some institutions without medical qualifications such as "use medicine to remove it" to avoid chemical burns.

How to keep the skin around eyes in good condition?

1. Pay attention to the use of sunscreen on the eyes on a daily basis, because the skin around the eyes is thinner than other skin on the face, and is therefore more susceptible to photoaging under the influence of ultraviolet rays.

2. In places with strong sunlight, you should develop the habit of wearing sunglasses.

Our eyes have a self-protection mechanism that causes them to squint under strong light. Squinting for a long time will cause fine lines around the eyes, and ultraviolet rays will also increase the incidence of cataracts.

3. Develop the habit of not rubbing your eyes, especially when your hands are dirty. Rubbing your eyes can not only easily cause conjunctivitis, but also allow bacteria to enter the wounds around the eyes and cause milia.
