MIUI will "go out" on two legs

On July 5, Xiaomi MIUI director Hong Feng revealed that the total distribution volume of Xiaomi App Store has exceeded 5 billion in the two years since its establishment, and the distribution capacity may reach 1 billion per month in the next one or two months. Hong Feng also predicted that 18 months from now, Xiaomi's various devices will carry 20% of China's mobile Internet traffic.

Xiaomi currently has 50 million MIUI users, which is growing naturally with the increase in Xiaomi smartphone shipments. Xiaomi smartphone shipments are expected to reach 60 million units this year, and by the end of 2014, MIUI users will reach 100 million.

In addition to the natural growth of MIUI users as the shipment of Xiaomi mobile phones increases, MIUI also relies on the third-party adaptation tool Patchrom and Xiaomi system APP to provide deep adaptation capabilities and entry-level adaptation capabilities respectively to expand the user base. Currently, more than 220 non-Xiaomi mobile phone models are adapted through the MIUI Pathrom tool; Xiaomi system is suitable for all Android phones, and you only need to install the APP to use MIUI. It currently perfectly supports more than 100 mainstream devices.

It is understood that the so-called Patchrom refers to a tool that inserts the modified code of the third-party ROM based on the original ROM of the device manufacturer through disassembly to achieve rapid adaptation of the third-party ROM. Xiaomi has opened the MIUI Patchrom development tool to developers since Android 2.3. By the end of last month, MIUI Patchrom has supported development and adaptation based on Android 4.4. Currently, MIUI based on Android 4.4 has supported 17 models.

According to MIUI engineers, with the help of the MIUI Patchrom platform, and the efforts of third-party developers and the Xiaomi official team, 226 non-Xiaomi models have been adapted to MIUI. The number of MIUI Patchrom users (i.e. "flashing users") has now exceeded 7 million, and is expected to reach 10 million by the end of the year.

Xiaomi System is another "leg" for MIUI to go global. This is a product recently released by Xiaomi, which can help users get 70% of the functions of an excellent ROM like MIUI, including MIUI dialer management, MIUI contacts, MIUI SMS, MIUI cloud service, MIUI desktop, etc., without flashing the phone. Just install the "Xiaomi System" APP like installing a normal application.

Xiaomi system is suitable for all Android phones. Android phone users do not need to flash the phone. They only need to download and install the "Xiaomi system" APP to use MIUI. From the public beta test in April this year to the official version released on June 20, Xiaomi system has now perfectly supported more than 100 popular models, and devices with 2GB RAM and Android 4.0 or above can use it more smoothly.

Through the MIUI Patchrom developer tool and the Xiaomi system APP, MIUI is exploring areas beyond Xiaomi phones in terms of depth and entry level to serve more Android phone users.
