In February 2020, affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, automobile production and sales dropped sharply.
1. Auto sales in February fell 79.1% year-on-year

In February, automobile production and sales reached 285,000 and 310,000 respectively, down 79.8% and 79.1% year-on-year respectively.
In January and February, automobile production and sales reached 2.048 million and 2.238 million respectively, down 45.8% and 42% year-on-year respectively.

1. Passenger car sales in February fell 81.7% year-on-year
In February, passenger car production and sales were 195,000 and 224,000, down 82.9% and 81.7% year-on-year, respectively. By vehicle type, sedan production and sales were 92,000 and 94,000, down 83.1% and 83.9% year-on-year, respectively; SUV production and sales were 93,000 and 112,000, down 81% and 78.8% year-on-year, respectively; MPV production and sales were 9,000 and 14,000, down 89.4% and 83.7% year-on-year, respectively; crossover passenger car production and sales were 1,000 and 3,000, down 94.3% and 84.4% year-on-year, respectively.
In January and February, passenger car production and sales were 1.631 million and 1.831 million, down 48.1% and 43.6% year-on-year, respectively. In terms of vehicle types, sedan production and sales were 740,000 and 834,000, down 50.4% and 47% year-on-year, SUV production and sales were 785,000 and 883,000, down 42.3% and 37.3% year-on-year, MPV production and sales were 79,000 and 90,000, down 65.7% and 58.6% year-on-year, and crossover passenger car production and sales were 27,000 and 24,000, down 53% and 49.7% year-on-year, respectively.

In February, Chinese-branded passenger cars sold a total of 118,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 77.6%, accounting for 52.6% of the total passenger car sales, and the market share increased by 9.7 percentage points year-on-year.
In January and February, the cumulative sales of Chinese-branded passenger cars reached 721,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 47%, accounting for 39.4% of the total passenger car sales, and the market share decreased by 2.5 percentage points year-on-year; among them, the sales of sedans reached 170,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 46.1%, and the market share was 20.4%; the sales of SUVs reached 471,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 42.5%, and the market share was 53.4%; the sales of MPVs reached 55,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 69.1%, and the market share was 61%.
(II) Commercial vehicle sales in February fell 67.1% year-on-year
In February, commercial vehicle production and sales were 89,000 and 86,000 respectively, down 66.9% and 67.1% year-on-year. By vehicle type, truck production and sales were 80,000 and 78,000 respectively, down 68.3% and 67.7% year-on-year; passenger car production and sales were 9,000 and 8,000 respectively, down 43.4% and 59.4% year-on-year.
In January and February, commercial vehicle production and sales were 417,000 and 407,000 respectively, down 34.8% and 33.2% year-on-year. By vehicle type, truck production and sales were 379,000 and 371,000 respectively, down 35.8% and 33.3% year-on-year; passenger car production and sales were 37,000 and 36,000 respectively, down 23.6% and 31.9% year-on-year.

2. New energy vehicle sales in February fell 75.2% year-on-year

In February, the production and sales of new energy vehicles were 9,951 and 12,908, down 82.9% and 75.2% year-on-year respectively. In terms of models, the production and sales of pure electric vehicles were 8,342 and 10,680, down 80.5% and 72.6% year-on-year respectively; the production and sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles were 1,609 and 2,228, down 89.5% and 82.9% year-on-year respectively.
In January and February, the production and sales of new energy vehicles were 53,840 and 59,705, down 63.8% and 59.5% year-on-year respectively. In terms of models, the production and sales of pure electric vehicles were 38,946 and 44,557, down 64.4% and 60.7% year-on-year respectively; the production and sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles were 14,749 and 14,977, down 62.2% and 55.7% year-on-year respectively; the production and sales of fuel cell vehicles were 145 and 171, down 24.5% and 8.6% year-on-year respectively.

3. Automobile exports in February fell 22% year-on-year

In February, the export of automobiles was 45,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 22%. In terms of vehicle types, the export of passenger cars was 35,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 4.3%; the export of commercial vehicles was 10,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 52.4%.
From January to February, the export of automobiles was 113,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 19.4%. In terms of vehicle types, the export of passenger cars was 86,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 5%; the export of commercial vehicles was 27,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 45.3%.
