ZUK Z2 Pro won nine world firsts. Yang Yuanqing: I made the most correct decision

Yesterday, Jia Yueting just released LeEco's latest flagship phone, LeEco 2Pro, at the LeEco Ecosystem Center. As another domestic phone equipped with Snapdragon 820 after Xiaomi 5, its official running score was 103322. But just 24 hours later, this record was broken again by Lenovo ZUK Z2 Pro, which scored as high as 144939 points and set nine "world firsts" in one fell swoop.

So what kind of high-tech does ZUK Z2 Pro, as Lenovo's latest flagship phone, contain? Why did Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing say that this was the most correct decision he had ever made when facing this product?

Let’s take a look at Lenovo ZUK Z2 Pro.

Wearable Device Terminator has nine world firsts

The world's first flagship phone to 100% activate the performance of Snapdragon 820;

The world's first flagship mobile phone integrating ten professional sensors;

The world's first flagship mobile phone that supports heart rate, blood oxygen and ultraviolet detection;

The world's first flagship phone with a true 3D glass body;

The world's first flagship phone that can take photos using heartbeats;

The world's first flagship phone that supports wet hand fingerprint unlocking;

The world's first flagship mobile phone with 7 modes and 23 frequencies and the fastest network speed in the world;

The world's first Android flagship phone to support iCloud synchronization;

The world's first flagship mobile phone that supports purchasing overseas roaming services without a network.

These are the honors won by ZUK Z2 Pro. Apart from some personalized settings, its 100% activation of the performance of Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip has become a focus of attention. According to the official introduction, Z2 Pro brings out the performance of the chip's SPU (Sensor Processing Unit), bringing the performance of the Snapdragon 820 platform's three-body processor architecture to its extreme.

In a sense, SPU gives the phone a "sixth sense". Z2 Pro has ten professional-grade sensors built in, which are unprecedented in the mobile phone industry in terms of number and performance. They include 3-axis gravity sensor, 3-axis gyroscope, 3-axis magnetic sensor, distance sensor, ambient light sensor, heart rate and blood oxygen sensor, pressure and altitude sensor, UV sensor, Hall sensor, and GPS scene positioning.

"This is going to be the end of the game for wearable device manufacturers." Faced with the Z2 Pro's huge built-in sensor architecture, an industry insider believes that the integration of many health monitoring functions in mobile phones is a nightmare for wearable device manufacturers. Previously, if users wanted to monitor their steps and heart rate more accurately, they had to buy sports bracelets, smart running shoes and other devices in addition to their mobile phones.

The addition of numerous sensors makes Z2 Pro a flagship phone that truly "understands sports". It can not only monitor and analyze the user's cadence, stride, vertical amplitude, ground contact time, altitude and 3D speed, but also provide more professional exercise suggestions for users, and summarize the user's current exercise information on the negative one screen, lock screen and other interfaces, making the information presentation more convenient and intuitive. At the same time, Z2 Pro can also detect and analyze the user's heart rate and blood oxygen before, during and after exercise, and then understand the intensity and effect of exercise, so that users can make adjustments according to their own exercise conditions.

Judging from the configuration of Z2 Pro, it has become a trend for smartphones to integrate more health management functions in the future, and it may eventually become the terminator of wearable devices.

Returning to Lenovo family, Yang Yuanqing is optimistic about ZUK

Unlike the previous ZUK Z1 which was launched separately as a product of the Magic Factory, the launch of Z2 Pro was arranged as the finale of Lenovo's global rally. In addition to Chen Xudong and Chang Cheng, Yang Yuanqing also personally endorsed this phone.

"Last year, Lenovo's establishment of Magic Factory was the best decision I made because it produced such a good product, but an even more correct decision I made was to let ZUK return to Lenovo and give it a bigger stage," Yang Yuanqing said at the press conference.

On April 1 this year, Lenovo Group ushered in a new fiscal year and announced the strategic reorganization of the group's business. ZUK officially returned from an independent marketing brand to the Lenovo family. The ZUK brand will be listed as an important sub-brand of Lenovo's mobile business along with Lemon and Motorola. At the scene, Chen Xudong once again sorted out Lenovo's mobile phone business. The Lenovo and Motorola brands are still positioned for high-end user groups, while ZUK and P series products are positioned for mid-range products; Lemon is positioned for low-end people.

In the first quarter of 2016, Chinese smartphone shipments totaled 125 million units, surpassing the combined shipments of Samsung and Apple for the first time, and the market share increased from 42.5% at the end of last year to 42.8%, an increase of 0.3 percentage points. Since 2016, except for LeTV, other domestic mobile phone manufacturers have almost stopped emphasizing low prices and ecological business strategies, and instead paid more attention to the shaping of mobile phone brands and functions.

In 2015, as competition in the domestic market became increasingly fierce, more and more manufacturers turned their attention to the international market. Lenovo also shifted its strategic focus to the international market and planned that international sales would account for 80% of total sales. Yang Yuanqing said that after ZUK returned to Lenovo, Lenovo would provide it with a broader international market.

"Let's maintain an entrepreneurial mindset and work together to make a great comeback," Chen Xudong wrote in an internal email to Lenovo. Amid the fierce competition and pursuit among mobile phone brands such as Huawei, Xiaomi, and LeTV, 2016 will be a turning point for Lenovo's mobile business.
