Large traditional automakers change their attitude: no longer mocking Tesla

Not long ago, large German automakers such as BMW and Mercedes were still laughing at Tesla, but a recent report from the Los Angeles Times shows that their attitude has changed. The reason for this change is of course very obvious: Tesla's newly released Model 3 has exceeded 400,000 pre-orders, which is enough for these traditional automakers to take this new competitor seriously.

Ferdinand Dudenhoeffer, an automotive industry analyst at the Center for Automotive Research at the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany, told the Los Angeles Times: "Now, German automakers are starting to take Tesla seriously. They are extremely proud of their engineering skills and believe that they know everything about cars. They used to think that no one could reach their level of car manufacturing capabilities. But now, a young punk (Tesla) has come to California."

In addition, the article also quoted Daimler AG Chairman Dieter Zetsch said this month: "Tesla promised a lot and delivered most of it."

It's not just German automakers, but now American automakers are also getting impatient. According to Bloomberg, Ford spent nearly $200,000 to buy one of the first Model X SUVs to be manufactured so that they could dismantle the electric car and explore the engineering secrets inside.

So it is no exaggeration to say that Tesla has now become a force that cannot be underestimated in driving changes in the automotive industry.
