Faraday Future hires former BMW electric car executive to accelerate FF91 mass production

According to foreign media reports, Faraday Future, which recently announced the suspension of construction of its Nevada factory, has successfully attracted Ulrich Kranz, the former head of BMW's Project i electric car team, to join. Kranz will serve as Faraday Future's chief technology officer.

Before joining Faraday Future, Kranz had worked at the BMW Group for more than 30 years. Currently, Faraday Future is in a cash crisis and the financial situation of its top investor Jia Yueting is worrying, so Faraday Future hopes that Kranz will turn the FF91 from a concept car into a mass-produced car, thereby increasing the stability of Faraday Future.

In a telephone interview, Kranz said that he is not a person who changes jobs frequently. "People who know me know that I can take risks and I often jump into a project suddenly." "It's very easy for me. Faraday Future has the right people, bold vision and creative products, so I came."

Bloomberg pointed out that calling Faraday Future a "risk" is a conservative statement under the current circumstances. A few months ago, government departments questioned Jia Yueting's financial support. In May of this year, Faraday Future was reported to be planning to find new investors to divest from Jia Yueting's financial crisis. Last week, Faraday Future decided to stop building the Nevada factory and said it was looking for other sites to speed up the mass production of FF 91.

In January this year, Faraday Future began accepting reservations for the FF91. Although the model can be reserved for $5,000, the company has not announced the total retail price of the FF91. Faraday Future expects to start mass production of the FF91 in 2018.

Despite the many difficulties Faraday Future has encountered, it is still very attractive to some executives in the industry. Earlier this year, Stefan Krause, former chief financial officer of Deutsche Bank, joined Faraday Future as chief financial officer. In addition, Nick Sampson, one of the founders of Faraday Future and current vice president of R&D and product development at Faraday Future, once helped Tesla develop the Model S and Model X.
