Geely's Li Shufu: American users will be allowed to drive flying cars in 2019

Compared with electric cars that have changed the form of automobile energy, flying cars that used to only appear in science fiction movies are actually not far away from us.

At the "2017 Global Future Mobility High-level Forum" held in Hangzhou recently, Li Shufu, chairman of Geely Holding Group, stated that Geely Holding Group has completed the acquisition of American flying car company Terragafia and will launch the first flying car for American users in 2019.

He emphasized that American experts have been focusing on flying car research for more than a decade, but due to lack of funding, they encountered many difficulties in the research process. Geely spent a lot of energy and money, and with the approval of the US Department of Defense, it finally successfully bought this flying car company from the United States.

Li Shufu also revealed that Geely is also preparing to launch a flying car that can take off and land vertically in 2023 to further solve the traffic congestion problem in big cities. However, due to restrictions for related reasons, China cannot currently become an ideal market for flying cars.

It is worth noting that Geely Holding Group has not neglected its layout in unmanned driving, autonomous driving and new energy vehicles.

First, the Volvo brand will cooperate with Uber and Waymo, Google's driverless company, to provide basic vehicles for the Internet companies' cloud computing, software and map application research and development.

In addition, new energy vehicle products under the Geely brand continue to be launched in the market, including the Polestar 1, a plug-in hybrid sports car derived from Volvo's high-performance brand, which was previously released at the Shanghai Auto Show, and a London taxi built using extended-range plug-in hybrid technology.
