It seems that the days when Chinese consumers would first think of joint venture brand products such as Volkswagen Tiguan and Honda CR-V when buying cars, especially SUVs, are really gone forever. According to the recently released domestic SUV sales ranking for October, the total sales volume of domestic SUVs in that month reached 986,900 units, a year-on-year increase of 13.7% and a month-on-month increase of 5.0%. The cumulative sales volume in the first ten months of 2017 was 7.8126 million units, a year-on-year increase of 17.0%. In terms of brands and models, Haval H6 and Baojun 510 occupied the top two places on the list with very close scores of 48,577 and 45,251 units respectively. Among joint venture brands, only Volkswagen Tiguan took the third place with 30,567 units. The 4th to 10th places were Boyue, Roewe RX5, Trumpchi GS4, Changan CS75, Honda CR-V, Fengguang 580 and Buick Envision. Obviously, domestic brand SUVs occupied 7 seats in the top ten list of domestic SUV sales in October. This not only shows that domestic cars are gaining more and more recognition from consumers in terms of brand reputation and product reliability, but also have made great progress in product market diversity. In addition, it is particularly noteworthy that in terms of the cumulative sales of domestic SUVs in 2017, although the Haval H6 ranked first with 391,000 vehicles, the Baojun 510, which focuses on high cost-effectiveness, ranked fourth in the industry with a good result of 237,000 vehicles in less than 10 months after its launch. Industry insiders predict that with monthly sales remaining almost the same, it is only a matter of time before Baojun 510 surpasses Haval H6 to become the monthly sales champion in the domestic SUV market.
