Can't I take these medicines anymore?

Not really.

These drugs are not banned outright, but specific drug certificates are revoked.

For example, for ibuprofen, the one that has been cancelled this time is the national medicine approval number H46020751, while other batches that have not been announced can still be used normally.

After the approval numbers of these drugs are cancelled, they cannot be circulated or used in the drug market once the national drug regulatory authorities announce it. The relevant pharmaceutical companies cannot produce them anymore, and they cannot be used in medical institutions or pharmacies. The drug regulatory authorities will not allow the import, production, sale, and use of these drugs, and they will also be the focus of investigation and punishment.

Of course, drugs produced with drug approval numbers that have not been cancelled by the national drug regulatory authorities are still available, which means that similar products from other manufacturers can still be purchased and used.

Why should I declare cancellation?

What are the approval numbers for these drugs?

The main reason is that these drugs have serious adverse reactions.

Analgin Tablets

Long-term use has been found to cause blood granulocytopenia, with an incidence of about 1.1%, which can be fatal in severe cases; it can also cause immune hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenic purpura and aplastic anemia, and skin allergic manifestations such as urticaria and exudative erythema. In severe cases, exfoliative dermatitis and toxic epidermolysis may occur. Once these adverse reactions to the blood system occur, the consequences are very serious and even fatal.

Ibuprofen tablets

Gastrointestinal symptoms occur in 16% of long-term users, including indigestion, stomach burning, stomach pain, etc., which disappear after discontinuation of the drug. Nervous system symptoms such as drowsiness, dizziness, and tinnitus are rare, occurring in 1%-3% of patients. Some patients may develop renal insufficiency, which often occurs in those with underlying renal disease.

Painkillers

On the one hand, it is easy to give people the illusion that it can "cure all diseases" and use it at will; on the other hand, it can cause serious adverse reactions: some patients develop asthma due to allergy to one of its ingredients; in severe cases, it can cause granulocytopenia, thrombocytopenic purpura, aplastic anemia, and even death; long-term use can also cause damage to liver and kidney function; symptoms of poisoning such as dizziness, cyanosis, and difficulty breathing may also occur; long-term use may lead to dependence.

Compound acetylsalicylic acid tablets (APC tablets)

The drug is a compound tablet mainly composed of aspirin and phenacetin. The main adverse reactions of aspirin are stomach discomfort and peptic ulcer, and severe allergic reactions caused by aspirin can also cause death of the user; phenacetin can cause renal papillary necrosis, interstitial nephritis and acute renal failure, and may even induce renal pelvic cancer and bladder cancer.

Contraindications of this drug: People who are allergic to aspirin, phenacetin, caffeine, hemophilia, active peptic ulcer, renal insufficiency, and infants under 3 months old should not use this drug.

These antipyretic and analgesic drugs were evaluated by pharmaceutical company researchers and were considered to have serious adverse reactions and the risks outweighed the benefits. In order to be responsible to the users, the companies withdrew from the market based on their own production efficiency considerations.

Are there any alternatives to these drugs?

If the adverse reactions of the above-mentioned drugs are considered serious, alternatives can be found.

Antipyretic: Acetaminophen, benoyl ester preparations, etc. can be used to reduce fever in children.

Anti-rheumatic: Children over 1 year old can choose diclofenac sodium preparations, and children over 12 years old can use nimesulide preparations for rheumatism.

For reducing fever in adults: In addition to acetaminophen and benoyl ester preparations, aspirin preparations can also be used.

There are many analgesic and anti-rheumatic drugs for adults: diflunisal, etofenamate, naproxen, fenbufen, ketoprofen, oxaprozin, celecoxib, etc.

What should I do if I have these batches of medicine at home?

Medical institutions, community health service stations, rural medical institutions and pharmacies at all levels must implement the regulations to cancel the registration certificates of 223 drugs including Rosiglitazone Maleate Tablets.

When patients use and purchase medicines, it would be best if they could check the batch number of the medicines to prevent the risks of adverse drug reactions. Medical institutions, community health service stations, pharmacies, and rural medical institutions must be supervised and not use or sell medicines whose registration certificates have been revoked. Medicine users have the right to report the use and sale of medicines whose registration certificates have been revoked to local drug regulatory authorities.

Do not throw away medicines with revoked drug registration certificates or expired medicines at home. To prevent environmental pollution and harm to human health, you should hand them over to the drug use and sales department. The drug supervision department has already made regulations. At the same time, it also prevents lawless elements from repackaging and re-listing them, and then selling them to households for the second time.

In addition, drugs whose drug registration certificates have been revoked and expired drugs have been included in the "National List of Hazardous Wastes" and are subject to destruction under the supervision of local drug supervision and management departments or other harmless treatment measures in accordance with the law.
