GAC Aion and Huawei jointly develop smart electric vehicles, with each party investing more than 100 people

Recently, there was news that GAC Group Aion will jointly develop smart electric vehicles with Huawei, and both parties have invested in R&D teams of more than 100 people.

After the news was released, the A-share and H-share prices of GAC Group rose collectively, with A-shares rising 6.39% and H-shares rising 4.26%. As of yesterday's A-share closing, GAC's share price reached 10.99 yuan, with a market value of 113.757 billion yuan.

An insider of GAC Group said that GAC Group and Huawei have made huge investments in the joint development of the next generation of smart cars, and the scale of 100 people is just a conservative statement. It can be seen that Huawei is determined to make a breakthrough in the field of smart cars.

GAC responded to the news, stating that GAC Group has signed two strategic cooperation agreements with Huawei since 2017.

In 2017, the two parties signed a cooperation agreement to cooperate in the field of intelligent connected electric vehicles and jointly promote the mass production and installation of multiple intelligent systems.

The strategic cooperation deepening agreement in September 2019 focused on the construction of computing and communication architecture, jointly embracing the industry trend of software-defined cars, combining the advantages of both parties, and jointly creating a sustainably upgradeable digital platform to provide users with better products and experiences.

Huawei said that its role in the strategic cooperation is a technical partner and component supplier.
