This drone-shot video is a bit scary

The Verge editor Ben Popper recently received an email from a reader about a drone that secretly filmed a couple in a hotel through an open window and uploaded the video to a porn site.

The reason why he received this email is mainly because he has written and reported many articles about drones, thus establishing a certain reputation in this field. From the video, you can see that a drone hovers outside the hotel window and continues to film the situation in the room. This video was uploaded to the Pornhub website by the anonymous user Droneman1.

It is unclear whether the video was actually secretly filmed or whether it was filmed by porn workers from this special perspective in order to attract people's attention.

If this video was really secretly filmed, it would be really creepy for the general public and people's privacy would be greatly challenged.

Pornography has, throughout its history, been on the edge of legal and cultural norms, but judging from what happened this time, if it was really candid filming, it would have completely violated the law.

This pornographic video shot by a drone raises our fears about real-life stalkers or voyeurs who may use drone technology to commit illegal activities.

In real life, drone users face many restrictions on their use in their cities, and only encounter less legal oversight in places like the Wild West of the United States.

In addition, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is also trying to formulate some federal rules to determine the future of this technology. The reason why there are so many restrictions and regulations is still due to concerns about privacy leaks.

If it is indeed a secret filming, this video also confirms that people's concerns about privacy leaks are correct.

So, how can we avoid this kind of privacy leakage? To change this situation, it is not a problem that can be solved by a single company or a single technology. It requires the joint efforts of drone manufacturers, government organizations, and pornographic websites to solve this problem.

With existing technology, the way to make effective improvements in a short period of time is to limit the flight altitude of drones and increase the noise generated by drones, especially the latter. With a loud enough noise, it will be easier to attract people's attention.

It is also a question whether pornographic websites can have professional ethics and avoid content that violates personal privacy from appearing on the website. After all, this is a huge market.
