Electronic devices make birds dizzy

Migratory birds travel thousands of miles every year. Scientists believe that the reason why they can identify the direction and find the right path during migration is that the magnetic compass in the bird's body can sense the earth's magnetic field and navigate. However, humans' increasing dependence on electronic devices has had an extremely bad impact on birds. A report published in the journal Nature pointed out that the weak electric field generated by electronic devices may interfere with the magnetic compass inside birds and affect migration. Professor Henrik Mouritsen of Oldenburg University in Germany and his team found in an experiment that birds in an electromagnetic field of 0kHz-5MHz will completely lose their sense of direction, but when the electromagnetic field is turned off, the birds can find their direction again. To the researchers' delight, although the birds' magnetic compass navigation ability is interfered with when flying over cities, they seem to have other means of distinguishing directions, such as star compasses and sun compasses.
