The world's first 4K screen mobile phone: battery life can last for two days

At the IFA conference in September, Sony launched the world's first 4K screen mobile phone. In the absence of major advances in battery technology, many users believe that Sony's move is meaningless and is just a gimmick, but Sony does not think so.

The Xperia Z5 Premium will not be available until November. In order to let more users know about it, Sony has once again released some information about it, hoping to dispel users' misunderstandings about 4K screens.

Since 4K screens are the most controversial, Sony will start with them. The Z5 Premium is equipped with a 5.5-inch 4K screen with a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels and a ppi of 806. Although it sounds scary, most users cannot experience it.

Sony emphasized that in order to make the Z5 Premium have better battery life, the phone screen will only display in 4K resolution when the user is watching 4K content shot with their own mobile phone or third-party 4K content from streaming services. All other content (including the main screen and applications) is displayed in 1080p resolution. This is mainly to take into account the battery life requirements. Obviously, this is a wise choice.

In addition, Sony said that under normal use, the battery life of the Z5 Premium will last for two days without any problems.

As for launching a 4K screen mobile phone so early, Sony believes that this is by no means a gimmick. 4K is what they have been working towards. Now more and more mobile phones support 4K video shooting, so it is completely necessary to launch corresponding display terminals. At the same time, the resolution of 4K is 4 times that of full HD, which can bring users a more realistic and richer viewing experience.

The biggest problem at present is that many third-party applications are not designed for 4K resolution or do not support 4K resolution yet. In this regard, Sony said that the launch of Z5 Premium obviously plays a positive role in encouraging more developers to adapt or develop applications that support 4K resolution.

It is worth mentioning that the new generation of iPhone cameras also supports 4K video shooting. With Apple's driving force, this is bound to take 4K development to a higher level. I just don't know which manufacturers are willing to launch 4K screen phones next.
