Beijing time, October 31 morning news, Google announced yesterday that Andy Rubin, co-founder of the Android operating system and former head of Android business, will leave Google.
Rubin founded a startup incubator for startups interested in developing tech hardware products. Rubin recently led Google's robotics work. A Google spokesperson said Google remains committed to the development of robotics technology and will continue to invest in this area. Google research scientist James Kuffner will take over Rubin's position as head of Google's robotics business. Google acquired Android in 2005, and Rubin helped turn Android into the world's largest mobile operating system. He stepped down as head of Android in 2013 to take charge of robotics-related work. "I want to wish Rubin the best in his next chapter," Google CEO Larry Page said in a statement. "With Android, he has built truly remarkable products with a billion happy users. Thank you." |
