Android fragmentation has not improved, Jelly Bean is still the mainstream system

Google released a report on the top market share of different Android versions on Monday. Android 4.4 KitKat continued to expand its share in October, with 30.2% of Android devices using this version. KitKat's market share data in August and September this year was 25% and 21% respectively. The report is based on the visit data of Google Play Store. KitKat was released together with Nexus 5 smartphone last year. Although mobile operators are currently working hard to promote KitKat, JellyBean is still the Android system with the largest market share, with a market share of 50.9% in October. It has decreased from 53.8% in September and 54.2% in August. Among the different versions of JellyBean, version 4.1.x has a share of 22.8%, followed by version 4.2.x with a share of 20.8%, and version 4.3 has a share of only 7.3%.

Of course, this market share data is about to change. Android 5.0 Lollipop was officially launched on Monday. Many Android device manufacturers are ready to launch smartphones and tablets based on the Lollipop platform. However, Lollipop has been launched too recently to appear in the Android market share statistics. But we can expect it to gain a certain market share next month.

Among other Android versions, Ice Cream Sandwich has a market share of 8.5%, down from 9.6% in September. Gingerbread still has a share of 9.8%, while Froyo's share has dropped slightly from 0.7% in September to 0.6%, and has gradually faded out of the market.
