KaiOS surpasses iOS to become the second largest mobile operating system in India

According to DeviceAtlas latest data, KaiOS has surpassed iOS to become the second largest mobile operating system in India in the first quarter of 2018. Android is still the leader and continues to erode iOS's market share in regions such as Malaysia.

KaiOS is a Linux-based mobile operating system launched in 2017, with the goal of "combining the power of smartphones with the affordability of feature phones". The system is a replica of B2G (Boot to Gecko), the open source community successor to Firefox OS that Mozilla stopped developing in 2016. The main feature of KaiOS is to bring HTML5-based applications to non-touch devices, support 4G LTE, GPS and Wi-Fi, and bring an optimized user interface, less memory and power consumption.

KaiOS was developed by KaiOS Technologies, a company headquartered in San Diego, California, USA. On its official blog, KaiOS stated that the system will have a new look this year and plans to provide services in more than 100 countries around the world by the end of 2018.
