Safari browser welcomes tab grouping feature, iPhone and iPad support extension plug-ins

During the WWDC 2021 keynote, Apple introduced a series of new features for the Safari browser, covering the three major platforms of macOS, iOS and iPadOS. For example, by later in 2021, macOS Monterey users will usher in a new tab grouping function, and iPhone and iPad mobile devices will also introduce support for extension plug-ins.

Apparently, after Google Chrome, Apple also wants to introduce the tab grouping feature. The improved tab UI is not only more lightweight and compact, but also reduces the tab clutter on macOS Monterey.

For users, they can stack specific tabs together as needed. It is worth mentioning that this feature also covers mobile devices and supports two-way instant synchronization with iPadOS devices.

iOS users haven’t been left behind, with a new tab bar at the bottom of the screen, allowing users to easily access and swipe between tabs with their thumbs (swipe up to view them in grid view).

In addition, Apple also announced that it will bring extension plug-in support to the mobile Safari browser on iPhone/iPad. Its code can be shared with existing Safari extensions so that developers can create related experiences for iPadOS and iOS at the same time.
