iPhone finally supports third-party apps? iOS 14.7 Beta 5 leaks

Recently, Apple officially pushed the iOS 14.7 and iPadOS 14.7 Beta 5 developer preview and public beta system updates. This system update should focus mainly on underlying performance improvements and bug fixes, while also bringing some other features.

Judging from feedback from some netizens, Apple has added a new startup page to the App Store in iOS 14.7 Beta 5, with text instructions attached.

It says: Welcome to the App Store, discover and download all kinds of great games and apps from trusted sources. Your searches, browsing, purchases, and device trust may be used to provide a personalized experience, send you notifications, improve the store, and prevent fraud.

It is worth noting that Apple has never supported third-party application installation. Users can only download applications through Apple’s official App Store, where all applications have been reviewed by Apple.

The new information added to the App Store startup page in iOS 14.7 Beta 5 seems to mean that Apple is about to open up third-party download permissions, and therefore begins to remind users to "discover and download various exciting games and apps from trusted sources."

This improvement is an epic upgrade for Apple users, and will lead to the emergence of a large number of third-party apps that did not exist before.

In addition to the new App Store startup page, iOS 14.7 Beta 5 also fixes an issue where connecting to a Wi-Fi SSID with a special name would cause Wi-Fi to crash.

Previously, security researcher Carl Schou discovered that as long as the Wi-Fi SSID contains the "%s" and "%p" characters, it will be regarded as a variable or command by the iOS system instead of plain text, causing the Wi-Fi to not work properly after connecting to the relevant SSID. The only known solution is to restore the network settings or erase all data to restore it for normal use.
