On June 21, according to a notification from the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, Microsoft will shut down Microsoft Bookings, one of its mobile applications developed for iOS and Android platforms, on July 15. This means that after this date, users who have installed and used Microsoft Bookings will no longer be able to use the app. Microsoft Bookings was removed from Apple's iOS App Store and Google Play Store in February 2023. Microsoft Bookings is a service released by Microsoft in July 2016 and officially available to all Office 365 (now called Microsoft 365) business premium users in 2017. Microsoft Bookings allows business owners to automatically schedule appointments for customers, who can select a specific date or time through a web-based form, and even specify the specific employee they want to contact. Microsoft did not give a specific reason for shutting down the Microsoft Bookings mobile apps, but it is likely that these apps are not used by many people, so the company decided to phase them out. Microsoft said in its message that mobile customers can still access the web-based Microsoft Bookings service on a browser. In addition, IT Home noticed that Microsoft also plans to phase out the current Windows Mail and Calendar applications and use the recently launched new Outlook application to provide Microsoft 365 services. A few days ago, it was revealed that the Mail and Calendar applications will be replaced by the new Outlook starting in September 2024. However, due to feedback from Microsoft 365 users, Microsoft has adjusted its retirement plan for Mail and Calendar and is currently "re-evaluating the timing and implementation of this change." |
