According to CCTV News, on the morning of September 28th, to celebrate the upcoming National Day holiday, the 2022 newborn giant panda cubs at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding (hereinafter referred to as the Panda Base) made their grand debut in the Sunshine Maternity Ward. The soft and cuddly "dumplings" charmed everyone as soon as they appeared.

This event combined the "national treasure" giant panda with elements of National Day and the "national sport" table tennis, showcasing the scientific research and breeding achievements of the Chengdu Panda Base and celebrating the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
According to a representative from the panda base, as of now, the base has successfully bred 15 giant pandas this year, including four pairs of twins, with the heaviest newborn weighing 218.5 grams. Among these newborn cubs are several new members of celebrity families.

Among them, Olympia, the giant panda named by IOC President Thomas Bach, successfully gave birth to a female panda cub, making her a mother for the first time and adding another member to the Olympic family at the panda base. Jili, a member of the renowned "Chengjia Team," also gave birth to her fourth cub, a male named "Xiao Huihui," who stands out among his many siblings. Meihuan, a giant panda born at the Atlanta Zoo in the United States, also successfully gave birth to a male panda cub this year, becoming a mother after her sister Meilun. Currently, all the newborn cubs are growing well, with the heaviest weighing nearly 6 kilograms. They reside in the Sun Nursery and Moon Nursery, respectively. Thirteen panda cubs participated in the public appearance.
During the National Day holiday, visitors to the panda base can see the pandas sleeping soundly in the Sun Nursery and Moon Nursery areas (exhibition hours: 8:00-18:00). Soon after, they will also gradually move to the outdoor activity area to play and meet visitors.
