Shandong is an important vegetable producing area in my country, and its scallions from Zhangqiu and garlic from Jinxiang are particularly famous.
Surprisingly, in Shandong, where traditional delicacies such as pancakes and noodles are very popular, not only do many locals love to eat scallions and garlic, but even chimpanzees from the zoo have come to join in the fun.
A video report from the Jinan Times showed that on the morning of November 13, "Chocolate," a chimpanzee at the Jinan Wildlife World, was enjoying a garlic clove that was nearly 60 centimeters long. His demeanor and actions were exactly like those of a typical "Shandong man."
In response, park staff explained that they add scallions and garlic to the chimpanzees' food every season to help reduce inflammation, kill bacteria, and prevent colds. Generally, each chimpanzee eats one scallion and three or four cloves of garlic a day. The scallions from Zhangqiu are crisp, tender, and sweet during this season, which the chimpanzees love to eat.
Besides chimpanzees, scallions are also added to the food of other primates such as baboons, gibbons, mandrills, macaques, orangutans, and golden monkeys.
It is understood that chimpanzees' daily diet mainly consists of apples, cucumbers, bell peppers, tomatoes, etc.

According to available information, Jinan Wildlife World is located in Bucun Subdistrict, Zhangqiu District, Jinan. The park covers an area of approximately 2,200 mu (about 140 hectares), with a walking tour area in the north and a drive-through tour area in the south. It houses more than 300 species of rare and protected animals, totaling nearly 4,000 animals.
The official website shows that the full-price ticket for adults is 160 yuan, and there are also self-driving tour routes available. Those who are interested may wish to take a look.
