Sinornithosaurus is one of the earliest discovered feathered dinosaurs. It lived during the Early Cretaceous period, 13 to 125 million years ago. Its name comes from the Greek word for "Chinese bird lizard," pronounced SINE-or-nith-oh-SAWR-us.
Feeding and diet
Sinornithosaurus was an active and agile carnivorous species that likely hunted in packs.
Other behaviors and adaptations
Sinornithosaurus was likely adapted for leaping. Its sturdy tail served for balance, precise aiming, and the ability to unleash powerful claws. It's difficult to say whether this contributed to attacking prey or leaping between branches.
