“Tik Tok Likers” earn over 10,000 yuan a month, is it reliable?

In short, these people are what the public knows as "water army". The fake orders on e-commerce platforms have turned into "fake likes" here.

According to the group administrator's promotion, as long as you accept the task of following and liking Douyin bloggers on the platform every day, take screenshots and upload them, you can get a reward of 1.5 yuan for each order, and you can do 5 orders a day. "If you think making money this way is slow, you can also develop downlines, members within the third level. As long as new members recharge, you can get commissions. Isn't it nice to make money while doing nothing?" said the group administrator.

The group administrator also solemnly guaranteed that the platform was officially authorized by Douyin, the group leader had personally inspected it, and the company really existed. Group members also show off their withdrawn profits every day.

Han Bing thought: "I'm just sitting around doing nothing anyway, so I might as well join in and earn some pocket money."

However, 10 days later, the system suddenly prompted that the task could no longer be received. Only then did Han Bing realize that if he did not recharge, the money he had earned before could not be withdrawn. By recharging and becoming a member, he could not only withdraw the money, but also receive more tasks every day and earn higher returns on each order. "Many people use the money they earn to top up higher-level memberships."

"I seem to have joined a WeChat business group," Han Bing finally realized. “Isn’t this so-called part-time job as a Douyin liker really just a way to make money?”

01. The “TikTok Liker” who claims to earn over 10,000 yuan a month

A large number of "like armies" suddenly emerged on Douyin.

Every day, like ants, they receive tasks to follow and like Douyin bloggers, like, take screenshots, and upload them one by one. When they reach 100 yuan, they withdraw money, recharge their membership and upgrade, receive more tasks, and continue to do tasks...and this cycle repeats itself.

At the same time, they also forward advertisements to recruit new people through various channels. As long as the downline they bring in repeats the above actions, the commission will be directly credited to their account, and they are dreaming of "making money without doing anything."

The slogan of earning more than 10,000 yuan a month supports their firm belief that if the part-time job is done well, the income can easily exceed that of the main job.

When it comes to exchanging time for money, moms and students are the largest groups, and one after another "disguises" are being changed to target them for business. This time, the profiteers have set their sights on TikTok, a platform with high traffic.

Han Bing scanned the advertisement QR code and joined a WeChat group. A group member who claimed to be a dispatcher for Ximei Film and Television Media Company and a cat agent began to introduce part-time business. "Today I would like to introduce to you a software APP, Meow Star, which allows you to make money by liking and following Douyin users. It takes 1 minute to place an order, and you can earn 30-500 yuan a day. Scan the QR code to download the APP, and the customer service will explain the operation method and process to you in detail."

Following the guidance in the group, Han Bing downloaded an app called "Happy Chat", added the corresponding account, and then downloaded the "Meow Star" app under the instructions of the other party. These two apps are the main "bases" for completing this part-time job. Han Bing learned that Kaixinliaobei is a tool for agents to post additional tasks and manage part-time workers, while Meow Star is a platform for receiving and executing tasks.

After registering, Han Bing became a trial member of the Meow Star platform and could receive 5 Douyin order-placing tasks every day. The specific operation is to click on the link provided by the task, a Douyin account will pop up, follow the account and like one of its works, take a screenshot and upload it to the task bar, and you will earn 1.5 yuan if the system review is passed.

In addition, the Kaixin Liaobei APP group will occasionally send out some temporary tasks of likes + follows. If you complete them within the specified time, you can get corresponding income. Usually, the reward is 3 yuan or 5 yuan for following an account + liking ten Douyin works. In other words, trial members can earn about 7.5 yuan a day, and members can withdraw cash when their accumulated earnings reach 100 yuan.

On the Happy Chat APP, Han Bing joined the "Tik Tok Part-time XX Group Cat People" group, which has 1,028 people, and part-time workers receive extra tasks in the group.

New users will also raise their own questions: "Is this platform reliable?"

The group manager then said, "The company is Ximei Film and Television Media Co., Ltd., located in Guangzhou. The group leader has visited it on site, and the Industrial and Commercial Bureau can also check it. The platform is directly cooperating with Douyin officials, and there is an authorization guarantee, so there is no need to worry."

The group manager also provided a picture of the authorization letter in the group (as shown below), which has the seal of "Guangzhou Ximei Film and Television Media Co., Ltd." but no seal from Douyin.

Apart from assigning a very small number of additional tasks, group administrators are more likely to urge group members to upgrade their membership, invite friends, and profit from it. Han Bing lurked in the group for 10 days. Every day, group members would take screenshots and show off their cash withdrawal profits from time to time, and people would continuously upgrade their membership.

02. The “WeChat Business” system of becoming a member and developing downlines to make profits

On the 10th day of the experience, the account showed an income of 50 yuan. Han Bing was planning to speed up the tasks to earn 100 yuan to withdraw, but when he accepted the tasks, the system reminded him that his credit points had been used up and he could no longer accept tasks. The 50 yuan in earnings could not be withdrawn because it did not meet the withdrawal threshold of 100 yuan.

Han Bing asked his superiors and learned that in order to continue to complete the mission, he had to recharge to become any of the platform's gold members, platinum members, diamond members, etc. Each type has annual cards, quarterly cards, and monthly cards, corresponding to membership fees and income ranging from hundreds to thousands.

According to the platform rules, there are two ways to make a profit. One is to recharge yourself to upgrade to different levels of membership and earn money by doing likes and follow tasks; the other is to invite new members and earn commissions from new members' recharges.

Taking the cheapest monthly gold membership card as an example, it costs 500 yuan to recharge the membership. If calculated based on the higher-level diamond annual membership, the membership fee is 28,888 yuan, and you can receive 65 tasks every day, with a commission of 2.8 yuan per task, a daily income of 182 yuan, a monthly income of 5,460 yuan, and an annual income of 66,430 yuan. Excluding membership fees, the annual income is 37,542 yuan, with an average monthly income of 3,128 yuan. Compared to the lowest level gold monthly card, the average income of a diamond annual card is almost equal to the monthly salary in a small city.

Not only that, the platform also provides commissions for developing new members. As shown in the above figure, after a gold monthly card member develops downline members, if the downline members recharge and become members of any level, they can get a 17% commission rebate. However, most members eventually form a cycle: in order to gain more benefits, they will use the money they earn to upgrade their membership. A group member once told Han Bing that all the money he earned in the past two months was used to pay the difference and upgrade his membership.

03. The game of cutting leeks in a row

This wool-pulling campaign was carried out vigorously, but the slap in the face came too quickly.

The group administrator vowed that the official authorized activity had been developing for several months. However, after verification from multiple sources, Ran Finance found that this was not the case.

The reporter checked Tianyancha and found that there was no information about "Guangzhou Ximei Film and Television Media Co., Ltd.". Only a similar company named "Guangzhou Ximei Media Co., Ltd." was found, but the word "film and television" was missing. The latter was established in 2011 with a registered capital of 3 million yuan, and the legal person is Li Chaoping.

Subsequently, Ran Finance called Guangzhou Ximei Media Co., Ltd. and asked whether the company was engaged in the cat-like Douyin business. The other party firmly denied it and said: "We do not have this business. The other party's company name is different from ours. They are playing a gray area. We have also received similar complaint calls recently. We are collecting information, looking for the other party's office address, and preparing to call the police."

At the same time, when Ran Finance sought confirmation from Douyin, the other party also firmly denied it: "It's fake, we are considering calling the police."

In fact, "Guangzhou Ximei Film and Television Media Co., Ltd." claims to be officially authorized by Douyin, but the authorization letter does not have Douyin's seal, and it has been denied by Douyin and companies with similar names. It can be basically confirmed that this platform is making profits in the name of other companies under the guise of official authorization by Douyin.

In addition, the operating model of the company's Meow Star uses the micro-business model of developing downlines layer by layer to induce users to recharge and recruit people to develop downlines. Although the micro-business model does not cross the legal red line, its step-by-step and interlocking model is suspected of "cutting leeks". Moreover, this company, which claims to be "Ximei Media", concealed its true business qualifications from users and is also suspected of deceiving consumers.

"This company uses the authorization of Douyin as an excuse to implement the so-called membership system and develop downlines. Although it cannot be identified as a pyramid scheme, it is actually a trap for downlines and is suspected of deceiving consumers. Victims can report to the industrial and commercial and tax authorities and pay attention to whether the company is operating in accordance with the law." Li Sheng, partner of Beijing Zhipu Law Firm, told Ran Finance.

Wang Chao, founder of Wenyuan Think Tank, also analyzed that Douyin should not adopt such a simple and crude method whose effect is difficult to judge for promotion. In addition, normal business activities, marketing and promotion will not be carried out in such a way that has no business logic. "This method of developing members by paying money, under the guise of Douyin likes, is suspected to be constantly developing downlines. I'm afraid it's an organization similar to a pyramid scheme and needs to be identified," he pointed out.

Many people may wonder, why is it that a platform that uses the Douyin brand to recruit part-time workers so openly can get away with it without being punished and attract so many people to join?

This may be a complex of intertwined interests of all parties.

For the accounts that fake orders on Douyin, in addition to naturally increasing followers through normal operations, for commercial purposes, purchasing fans and likes to increase popularity and become popular has become part of their operating methods. This part of the investment cost can be recovered later by attracting advertisements from brand owners or making money through live streaming, which can gain popularity and make money, thus achieving the best of both worlds.

As for the TikTok platform, the authorities usually do not authorize third-party companies to fake orders and inflate the platform's data, and will definitely state in the platform rules that they will severely crack down on fake orders. But objectively speaking, it is indeed difficult for platforms like Meow Star to fully identify and regulate zombie fans who are operated by real people rather than machines. In addition, it is undeniable that this has objectively promoted the prosperity of the Douyin ecosystem. Some interviewees even believed that the possibility of the platform turning a blind eye could be ruled out.

As for Guangzhou Ximei Film and Television Media Co., Ltd., it has set its sights on the traffic needs of Douyin bloggers in the era of short video traffic dividends, and grafted models that originally existed in other ecosystems, such as e-commerce order brushing, WeChat public account fan brushing, and Weibo repost and likes brushing, onto Douyin. At the same time, it uses the micro-business operation model to recruit and manage part-time staff to obtain profits. The company's revenue comes from two parts: one is the price difference between taking and dispatching orders, and the other is the membership income brought by part-time employees.

As for part-time users who follow and like Douyin, most of them come with the mentality of making money cheaply and taking advantage of others. Judging from the current situation, it is possible that small investment will bring small returns, and large investment will bring large returns. It is possible to make a net profit, or it is possible to make a huge initial investment and then be ripped off when the platform has problems later.

In short, this chaos existing in the Douyin ecosystem can be maintained because it benefits all the above parties to varying degrees.

But after a cycle, the ones who ultimately suffer are the advertisers who paid real money. With the proliferation of a large amount of fake traffic, the effectiveness of advertising is naturally greatly reduced, and the sponsors become the "suckers" who pay the bill in the end.
