Many foreign media have confirmed that Google intends to return to the Chinese market and introduce the Google Play Store to China. This Friday, Forbes magazine once again confirmed that Google is likely to launch a Chinese version of the Google Play Store by the end of this year. There are reports that Google has been negotiating with relevant Chinese government departments. The negotiation process is slow, but Google will eventually get permission to enter the Chinese market. On the other hand, Google is also in contact with domestic mobile phone manufacturers in China. The specific cooperation situation is as follows: as long as domestic mobile phone manufacturers build Google's Google Play store into every mobile phone they produce, Google is willing to subsidize the mobile phone manufacturers at a price of one US dollar per mobile phone. In addition, Google also needs to find a partner to help it store applications in data centers in China and release the Chinese version of Google Play. Previously, Google withdrew its core search engine business from China in 2010 due to a series of reasons such as refusing to set up data centers in China. But this did not meet the requirements of the Chinese government, so Apple had to compromise. In 2014, Apple announced that it would transfer the data of Chinese users to China Telecom's cloud service storage. This was the first time that Apple officially stored iCloud data in mainland China. Apple said that the cooperation with China Telecom was aimed at increasing bandwidth and improving performance for users in mainland China, "and all data stored with our suppliers is encrypted, and China Telecom cannot access the content." Previously, most of the data generated by iCloud was stored in the Apple iCloud data center in North Carolina, USA. Domestic Apple users had to take a detour to access it, and the response speed was relatively slow. In the past two years, China has attached increasing importance to network information security. In addition, the exposure of the PRISM program has also made China more vigilant towards companies including Apple. This time, Apple transferred the data of Chinese users to China Telecom's cloud storage server, which is also "a gesture of goodwill to China." If Google wants to return to the Chinese market, it must "learn" from companies such as Apple and Microsoft. Not only Google, but another social networking giant Facebook is also actively lobbying to enter the Chinese market. It can be said that the rapid development of China's mobile Internet has greatly exceeded the expectations of these giants, forcing them to rethink their attitude towards the Chinese market. China is currently the country with the largest number of Internet users in the world and the largest smartphone market. Losing the Chinese market is equivalent to losing the market of hundreds of millions of people in the world, so even if it means compromise, it must enter the Chinese market. For consumers, having more choices is always a good thing. |
