China News Service, March 20. On the 20th, the Chinese Fencing Association issued an announcement stating that three members of the Chinese epee team tested positive for nucleic acid and were confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus pneumonia.

It is reported that the Chinese epee team has been fighting overseas since the beginning of this season. The team previously participated in the World Cup Grand Prix held in Hungary from March 6 to 8. The Chinese epee team originally planned to return home after the last Olympic qualifying competition (March 22-24). Later, because the International Fencing Federation announced the cancellation of all international competitions in the next month, the team immediately changed its itinerary.

The team of 13 people flew back to China on March 16, local time in Hungary. During entry quarantine, three team members tested positive for nucleic acid and were confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus with mild symptoms. The team members are currently receiving treatment in a hospital arranged by the Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and other teammates are isolated and under medical observation.
