Now our Mars rover has set off. Today (24th), the Lunar Exploration and Space Engineering Center of the National Space Administration announced that the global naming campaign for my country's first Mars rover has officially started. This naming activity is divided into four stages: "submission of names, preliminary evaluation of the top ten by judges, top three by public voting, and weighted evaluation of the top three". The results will be announced after approval.
From now until 24:00 on August 12th is the first phase of the global naming campaign. During this period, the public can submit their names through the official collection channel of the mobile application, or submit them in paper form to the global naming campaign office for China's first Mars rover.
Tianwen-1 is China's first independent Mars exploration project. Giving the general public the right to name China's first Mars rover will be more conducive to popularizing aerospace knowledge, attracting public attention to the aerospace industry, and inspiring patriotic enthusiasm.
The Tianwen-1 probe, my country's first Mars exploration mission, was successfully sent into its intended orbit by a Long March 5 carrier rocket on the 23rd, officially marking the beginning of my country's planetary exploration. The Tianwen-1 mission plans to achieve the three major goals of "orbiting" through a single launch. Next, the probe will fly for about seven months before finally reaching Mars. After the soft landing, the rover plans to stay on the surface of Mars for 90 Martian days to carry out scientific exploration work such as patrol and survey.
