What will the world be like in 500 years?

Whenever I think about this question, I can't help but cry out from the bottom of my heart: "I really want to live another 500 years", because we can almost be sure that the world will be better 500 years later, and it is likely to be better than we can imagine. The development of human civilization is not linear. In the years before science was born, although technology was constantly innovating and ideas were constantly improving, people had no way of being sure that tomorrow would be better than today, and this is indeed the case. However, it is different now. With the support of science and technology, human civilization has entered a stage of rapid development. The world today was completely unimaginable 500 years ago. 500 years ago, due to the establishment of the Ottoman Empire, the trade route between the East and the West was cut off, and European navigators began to open up sea routes.

When Portuguese navigator Bartolomeo Dias led his fleet to discover the Cape of Good Hope, he would not have imagined that 500 years later, fuel-powered steel ships would be able to carry hundreds of thousands of tons of cargo and travel on the sea at a speed of 30 kilometers per hour.

When Charles V of the Holy Roman Empire established the first "sun never sets" empire in human history, he could not have imagined that 500 years later, humans would be able to run faster than the sun, and even an ordinary person could fly around the world on an airplane. As long as we want, we can keep chasing the sun. When Emperor Wuzong of the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Houzhao, was busy dealing with the rebellions of Prince Anhua and Prince Ning, he could not have imagined that 500 years later, China would be so prosperous that we could destroy a city with a missile and send spacecraft to the moon.

For people who lived 500 years ago, our current world would be unimaginable. No matter how imaginative a person is, it would be impossible to imagine it.

The same is true now. If we imagine the world 500 years from now, no matter how good your imagination is, it will seem barren. Of course, some things are predictable. Future technologies that have a theoretical basis but are not yet capable of being realized should have become a reality in 500 years. The first is controlled nuclear fusion. In 500 years, humans should have fully mastered this powerful way of obtaining energy. This not only means that humans can use it as a power to travel freely in the solar system, but also means that humans will have the ability to create everything. Because all matter is essentially the same, composed of molecules, atoms, and smaller elementary particles.

It's just like playing with building blocks. All materials are the same in origin, the only difference is the way they are combined.

However, it takes a lot of energy to break this combination and reassemble it. But if humans have controlled nuclear fusion technology, energy acquisition will no longer be a problem. At that time, we can directly synthesize the food we need without planting. Secondly, there is the space elevator. At that time, if you want to go to the Earth's orbit to see the scenery of space, you don't need to go through long-term training, nor do you need to take the risk of riding a rocket. You only need to take the already built space elevator. Any ordinary person can go to space. By then, human habitation will not be limited to the Earth. At least there will be many human space bases on other planets in the solar system.

There are many similar foreseeable future technologies, and in addition to these, there are many that are unforeseeable because they do not yet have the corresponding theoretical basis, but they are not impossible to achieve, such as space jumps, curvature engines, and even time travel.

Is it possible that human technology will stop moving forward and remain the same 500 years from now? This possibility is very small. All living things, including humans, follow a most basic law, that is, "energy orientation". The survival of all living things has only one purpose, that is, to obtain energy. This pursuit of energy is not based on demand, but on instinct, so living things are always trying to obtain more energy. Specifically for humans, demand will never be satisfied.

In the past, life for ordinary people was extremely hard and they had to endure famine and war. If there was a place where they would not be bullied and could eat stewed beef with potatoes every day, it would be heaven. Living in such a place, they would no longer be dissatisfied.

But the fact is that all this has been achieved. We live in a society ruled by law, no one bullies us, we want to eat beef stew with potatoes every day, and a monthly salary of 1,500 is enough. But will we feel happy under such conditions? We will feel stressed and miserable. So we will try to get more. It is precisely because humans abide by the most basic laws of biology and always try to get more energy that civilization will continue to progress. Unless humans have everything or completely perish, development will never stop.
