Many people like to collect ceramic bowls recently Some netizens broke the news Some brightly colored tableware If in direct contact with food May have adverse health effects Some netizens said in the comment section: The collapsed house has even collapsed onto the bowl? There are elderly people and children at home. It would be safer to dispose of similar bowls at home. Where does the trend of throwing bowls come from? The discarding of ceramic bowls is not an isolated case. Back in March this year, many people began to discard ceramic bowls. This phenomenon was mainly due to netizens mistakenly believing the content posted by certain accounts: 315 exposed "deadly porcelain bowls", that is, overglaze colored bowls, which may pose a threat to human health! As a result, many netizens even threw qualified ceramic tableware into the trash. On the social platform, a netizen posted: Are my own ceramic bowls and plates really unusable? Many netizens were shocked: I also have overglaze colored bowls at home, and I have used them for more than three years... In fact, the "toxic tableware" exposed by CCTV's 315 Gala this year were imitation porcelain bowls, not real ceramic bowls. Imitation porcelain bowls, also known as melamine tableware, feel like ceramics and are not easy to break. They are also called "imitation porcelain tableware" and are widely used in daily life. According to a previous report by The Paper, a public welfare organization randomly purchased melamine tableware from three e-commerce platforms including Taobao and sent them for inspection. All of them were found to contain excessive melamine and no product labeling. These tableware with potential safety hazards pose a serious threat to consumers' health. Concerned about safety risks Some people decided to switch to plain tableware As a collector of colorful ceramic bowls, Ms. Li also began to have doubts about her "collection" after March this year. On the one hand, she bought them from well-known stores at a high price, so there should be no safety risks, and the temperature of the dishes was not high; on the other hand, the overwhelming news on the Internet made her confused, and she finally decided not to use those colorful ceramic tableware anymore. Ms. Li switched to using white porcelain tableware and soon discovered its advantages: "Those fancy ceramic tableware, once you put food on it, the patterns inside can no longer be seen, it's just a feast for the eyes. Solid-colored ones are more attractive and look good when used to place food and take photos!" Are ceramic bowls really toxic? Doctor: Pure white ceramics have the highest safety level Are ceramic bowls poisonous? The reporter consulted Jin Weiwei, director of the Nutrition Department of Zhejiang Provincial Tongde Hospital . She pointed out that there are indeed some substandard ceramic bowls on the market that can be called "poisonous bowls." "Commonly used ceramic bowls are made of fired clay and then covered with a layer of glaze. After being fired through a special process, qualified ceramic bowls are harmless to the human body. However , some unqualified ceramic bowls on the market have high levels of heavy metals due to factors such as insufficient baking temperature or improper processing. They are indeed 'toxic bowls.' " What kind of ceramic bowls might contain toxins? Director Jin said that currently, there are three main types of patterned ceramic tableware on the market: overglaze, inglaze and underglaze. "Among them, overglaze is brightly colored, and the pigments usually contain heavy metals such as lead and cadmium. In addition, overglaze is fired at a relatively low temperature, which may cause the pigments to not be completely fixed, and it is easy to wear and fade. The painted patterns are on the outermost layer, which is in direct contact with food. Using it to hold hot and acidic food will increase the precipitation of heavy metals." Overglaze color: The body is fired at high temperature to become white porcelain, then patterns are drawn on the glaze layer, and finally it is fired a second time at a low temperature of 600~900℃. Color in glaze: A layer of transparent glaze base will be applied on the body and then fired at 800℃. After the pattern is drawn, a second glaze will be applied to cover and protect the pattern. Finally, it will be fired at a high temperature of 1200℃~1300℃ to fuse the glaze layer and firmly fix the pattern. Underglaze color: the pattern is first drawn on the body and then the glaze layer is applied, and then it is fired at a high temperature of more than 1200℃. Director Jin also provided several methods to roughly judge the production process of ceramic tableware: 1. Look at the color: Place the tableware under a light source to see whether the refracted light is consistent between the patterned and unpatterned parts. If it has a glassy texture, it is in-glaze/underglaze color; otherwise, it is overglaze color. 2. Texture: The inner wall of the in-glaze/underglaze color is smooth and feels smooth without any roughness, and there is no obvious boundary at the edge of the pattern; the overglaze color feels relatively rough, like the texture of a sticker. 3. Scrape the glaze: The glaze of underglaze color is very hard, while the inferior overglaze color may scrape off part of the pattern with a single scratch. "From a safety perspective, pure white ceramics have the highest safety level , followed by underglaze colors, then in-glaze colors, and the lowest is overglaze colors. Alternatively, you can choose ceramic tableware with patterns on the outside and pure white inside. When choosing ceramic bowls, it is recommended to choose products from regular manufacturers, and purchase pure white porcelain, underglaze or in-glaze color tableware with strict control over raw materials and production processes. The standard to be implemented is GB 4806.4-2016 "National Food Safety Standard - Ceramic Products." " Image source: e-commerce platform Source: Morning News, 19th Floor, The Paper, Alarm Bell |
