Many places adjust emergency response to typhoon

■ Shanghai

As Typhoon Bebejia moves away, wind speed in Shanghai has weakened significantly, and warning signals for sea waves and typhoons have been lifted; the Shanghai Flood Control Headquarters terminated the Level 4 flood and typhoon response in the central city and switched to normal duty; the suburbs terminated flood and typhoon response operations according to the zoning response procedures, depending on the disaster handling situation in each district .

Jiangsu

As of now, the overall operation of expressways in Jiangsu Province is stable, the traffic order is good, and the smooth rate is 99.95%. The special controls previously affected by Typhoon "Bebejia" have been lifted.

At 6:42 on the 17th, the Nanjing Meteorological Observatory lifted the yellow typhoon warning signal. The Nanjing Flood Control Headquarters decided to end the second-level emergency response to typhoon prevention from 7:00 on the 17th.

On the 16th, Typhoon Bebejia made landfall in the coastal area of Lingang New Town, Pudong, Shanghai. This was the strongest typhoon to hit Shanghai since 1949, and the first time Shanghai faced a strong typhoon. In addition to Shanghai, Zhejiang and Jiangsu were also affected by the typhoon. Hainan and Guangdong had just dealt with the typhoon Makar, and the next typhoon Prasang had already formed.

Why have autumn typhoons been so frequent since September this year?

Last night (16th), CCTV's "News 1+1" connected with Wang Wei, a senior engineer of the Central Meteorological Observatory. Wang Wei introduced that this year's typhoons "Makar" and "Bebejia" have a stronger impact than the same period in history . The autumn typhoon has just begun, but their impact cannot be underestimated.

Wang Wei said that in the past, there were about 1.2 typhoons affecting China in early and mid-September. Currently, including the upcoming typhoon "Prasang", there will be three typhoons affecting China's coastal waters. This autumn's typhoons are more active than the same period in history .

Wang Wei said that relevant scientific research points out that in the context of future climate warming , due to rising sea temperatures and increased low-level water vapor input, the proportion of typhoons and strong typhoons will increase. According to statistics from the Central Meteorological Observatory, the intensity of typhoons that land in China has tended to increase since the 21st century.
